Post subject:  After Market Torque Converter

Hello all

I'm looking for an after market torque converter and am asking anyone who may know of a company building such an animal. I've checked the typical mfg's that do this for dodge cummins applications but none of them seem interested.

let me know.....tks,

Bryan :roll:

How timely...Saw this on the general thread of mods that can be done for the 3.7. They make reference to an aftermarket torque converter.

Hope this helps...

They have a torque converter that fits our tranny, but it is for the hemi and is for "high stall" racing applications. It will not work for shizzle on the CRD. The site says they do custom converters, however, and I wonder what a "low" stall converter with a higher torque mutiplication factor (tweeked stator) would cost. (Diesels have peak torque/horsepower at low RPMs-- so higher stall is bad for a diesel but good for higher revving race engines. We would need one with a lower stall or with the same stall). The current TQ has a 1.5-2.0x torque multiplication factor, and they could probably improve on that a bit.

The converter they lists is $450 bucks-- alot cheaper than a custom converter for a cummins or duramax ($1200+). Let us know if you talk to them.
