Post subject:  Brake Lights out???

My rear brake lights are both out. Both the dimmer nighttime setting w/ the headlights AND the bright-light for braking.

They are on seperate fuses, both of which are still fine...

The headlights, third (top) brake light, fog lights, interior lights and all turn signals/flashers are working normally...

Wierd.

People kept flashing me on freeway until I pulled over and checked. Then I stayed in the right lane with blinkers on- PEOPLE KEPT HONKING AND FLASHING! DAMMMIT! I KNOW MY LIGHTS ARE OUT! WHY DO YOU THINK MY EMERG. FLASHERS ARE ON???? *GRRRRRRR.....*

So lame. *sigh*

So a trip to the dealer tomorrow to find out what's wrong, I guess.

Any theories?

Sounds like a wiring issue to me. Sounds like that you have a disconnection somewhere to a main power source. It should be a easy fix, after they find it that is. If both are out, and they are on seperate fuses, its got to be wiring.

Did you check the bulbs? Its strange but not impossible to loose both bulbs in a similar amount of time...they're both on the exact same amount of time...sometimes when either the Low or High filament (park/brake) breaks, it takes out the other filament.

Check the easy stuff first...if its not the bulbs have the wiring checked.

Fixed under warranty...

But wierd.

Apparently, both rear lens assemblies were half-filled with "rainwater" and it blew the bulbs out...

Huh?

So they replaced the "pods" on boths sides, all the lights/lenses/housing.

He said the "seals" were broken and it let rainwater in.

Whatever. It's been raining a lot- we'll see how fast that happens again.
