Has anyone installed a CB in the CRD? If so, where did you put it.
The only thing I have figured out to do is to install a CB with the electronics on the mike under the seat and then hang the mike somewhere on the console. I have not checked on power circuits yet, but will wait to see if there is some install that will allow power plug use.

I have mounted my scanner between the pass seat and the console. It fits snug, but works just fine. No holes to mount it.

The Electronics section has some suggestions

although somewhere there's another one that I remember but I can't find it - the guy took a flat piece of steel about 18 inchs long - drilled 2 holes for the headrest mounts, made a hook at the end and had the CB mike at ear level from the passenger seat..
Drives me crazy that I can't find it.. search finds 30+ pages of CB mounts and I don't see that one.

Thanks, I will check out the console mount, but pass on having the radio hang on the ceiling over the rear mirror. It would be a missle in a crash plus the wiring issue would be tough. The mount inbetween the console and the seat seems best. I have not purchased a unit yet, but there are a few "compact" units which may fit. In addition, I could easily get power out of dash plug and run wire for mag mount antenna out rear door.

Hi vtdog ,

I have a CB mounted under my driver seat . I drilled a hole big enough to fit a screw through the side of the seat mounting bracket and fastened directly into the side casing of the unit. I then wedged some foam rubber between the radio and carpet to add some extra support . I did the same thing for the mike. Where the seat bracket begins to turn up towards the front side I drilled two holes and fixed a small mounting cradle there . My mike slots in comfortably and all I need to do is reach down with my free hand and pull it out the cradle. If you have a navigator you are able to feed the mike out from under the driver seat and over to the passenger side as well . The elasticated cord stretches pretty far . Let me know if you want some pic's and I'll post them for you.

hardieman.

If you haven't purchased a radio yet, you may want something small and light-weight. Velcro works wonders when installing in tight spaces.

Here's an install I came across, good if you can find a small CB. Picture in second post.

Another guy had one installed in his door pocket.

Thanks for all the info: the "industrial strength" velcro and under seat mount seems to be the way to go

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR !!!!!!!

If anyone is wanting to put a cb in the small area in front of the shifter, you may want to consider this one:

http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=417&id=1

I haven't done it, but with the discussion here, I checked out Cobra's website and came across this model. It looks like the right dimensions to fit in, even though you would have to make a hole in the back of the storage area to install. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a small external speaker on it as well.
