My 05 CRD started easily this morning at -25F. without being plugged in. So far, I love this Jeep. My only problems have been the rear break moan...the dealer replaced pads and rotors and the moan is still there...and stalling shortly after startup whether warm or cold, but more often cold. The Jeep has gone into limp mode once with no CEL and, according to the dealer, no codes. They checked fuel pressures and did the "latest" TSB flash which they say is 18-018-05. I think DC should re-flash their CRD dealers! |

-25F! Wow! I'm sure glad that I won't see temperatures like that here! I think we got down to +2F once, about 20 years ago. By the way, how long did the glow plug light stay on? |

less than 30 seconds...very impressive! My diesel jetta and F250 would have glowed way longer and taken multiple tries. |

lol you don't happen to live in Edmonton do you, I think it was almost that here this morning. Wind Chill of -40 (C or F, the two scales meet at that temp) Mine sits in a heated garage though. I have that brake moan too, and I've also it go into limp mode, with a bad engine shutter twice now with the same result, no codes or engine light. At least it always comes back after you let it sit for 30 seconds. |

There is a TSB brake pad and clips that fixes the moan to the rear brakes, worked for me. |

I also have had this problem of the rear brake moan but the dealer said it would come out of my pocket because its a wear item. Any truth to this guys?????? I even mentioned the TSB. |

I guess it depends on the dealer, or even the particular service manager on duty. I'm getting this same problem fixed on the TSB, too. I said to the weekend service manager at my dealer, "I was told the brake moaning would go away, but its been 9 months and the brakes still grunt every morning." (to let him know there was history.) I told him there was a TSB and he just looked it up and then ordered the parts, because everything was not in stock. No arm twisting, begging, pleading, or bomb threats needed. Do dealers get paid by DC for warranty/TSB work? I wonder why some dealers seem to be interested in avoiding any work. |

I had mine done under 12,000 miles and 12 months so it was still covered. The dealer is right in this case, it's a wear item. |

Yeah, DC pays them, but not nearly as much as they would charge you. |

I'm sure DC pays the dealer, I think the problem, at least at my dealer, is the sevice consultant is a commission job and I'll bet they don't get paid for warranty. |

Sat out all day in -28C, was amazed that glows were on on for 2 seconds before the light went off. It did start, but the cranking RPMs were about 1/3 of normal, but fired right up. Wouldn't want to push it much beyond that, even with the optima battery it seems like it has to work pretty hard to turn it over. |
