I would like to hear current opinions from CRD users with Aero mufflers and comparison to other mufflers. The 2525 looks good to me. I don't want to pick up a lot of noise just lose flow restriction. How about other brands being used by CRD drivers? Lewis |

That or the Borla X1 would be my choice. Neither one is cheap but Stainless Steel and the design looks like a winner. |

Running Gibson cat back system - Love it. it is a bit louder now during the winter after start up, but that is just a cold diesel |

After reading the muffler shootout at http://www.ls1sounds.com/faq.htm I went with Hooker Maxflow. Muffler is quiet as stock, have not noticed any mileage increase. I do hear turbo spool on cold days less than 50deg. William |

I have the Aero Turbine. There is no noise difference from stock upon initial install. About 20k miles later there is a slight burble when letting off the gas after WOT but is barely noticable. Saw approximately .5 mpg increase. If I had to do it all over, I'm not sure if I would, just because there was so little bang for the buck. But if I did, I'd get the 3030 and switch out my exhaust to 3" but only in anticipation of a chip and possibly other engine mods in the future. Hope this helps. |

Is there any real advantage to the A/T over other straight-through mufflers? Seems like a Magnaflow or even a cheap glass-pack would produce the same results for a whole lot less money. |

True. |

I did the Magnaflow - same about .5-1 mpg increase no noise change that you could hear over the MTR's. I think the glass-pack or straight pipe would be as good - best would be the 3" turbo back exhaust - but that's a lot more money. |

I have the one with the resonator and I love it, I found it used for $175 and cost another $90 for them to put it on. I love it, I got 1mpg improvement and a significant decrease in turbo lag, plus I garauntee it decreases EGTs atleast a little bit, can't say that about many mufflers... |

Did you keep the CAT flange or cut that out too? |

Had them cut the flange from the cat to the muffler out to 2.5", it looked like the stock flange goes down to 2" before it reaches the muffler |

I purchased a Aero Turbine AT2525 from tonygt9 on ebay. Had installed today, local shop cut out old flange and muffler, welded in new muffler and sent me on my way in about 20 minutes. The at2525 was $101.58 delivered, installation $40. Happy so far. CRD seems to be quiet enough and it may be my imagination but seems to be operating with less effort. tonygt9 has a couple for bid on ebay now with 7 hours left. Just search at2525. Now will check fuel economy. Lewis |

I've had my AT for almost 10 months now. Works great and is quiet. I hadn't had my CRD very long before installing it so can't really comment on performance with or without it. If you search WAY back on the forum there was a ton of discussion between glasspacks, Magnaflows, AT's, etc. Would I do it over again? Yes. It gives me peace of mind to just never think about it. I know my CRD is breathing better w/o that crappy gas KJ muffle on there. Oh, yeah, I grew up in Tulsa (and my CRD came from there). Go Pokes! |
