I understand that some of you get upset when you see so many CRD owners complain and whine about their CRD's. Please understand that this is the place that many owners use as a "forum" to vent. Lets be honest, the CRD is a malfunction looking for a place to happen but I still love it. :o I really do. If yours hasn't malfunctioned it is one of two things. It just hasn't been driven enough or it is already malfuntioning and you don't know it. I tend to believe the later. Listed below are all of the parts and repairs I have had done since April of 2005. It now has 36K miles on it. With 28 different trips to the dealer this is why I cry myself to bed at night on my giant pilla.

1. EGR Valve replaced
2. Rear Brake Calipers replaced
3. Wastegate solenoid replaced
4. Throttle body replaced
5. Rear glass readjusted (didn't work)
6. Tailgate repainted (rear glass rubbed it)
7. Front coil springs replaced
8. Rear suspension tightened 5 times
9. Transmission dipstick repaired (kept popping out)
10. Pop valve replaced in rear door
11. Ball joints replaced
12. Front passenger seat repaired
13. Transfercase repaired
14. Torque Converter replaced
15. Rear U-Joints

So what does your repair list look like. I hope it's short. I am sure I missed a few. These were the one I could remember off the top of my head. :D

Your list is longer than mine

1. Ball Joints Replaced
2. Rear U Joint replaced
3. Two Torque Converters with filter TSB
4. Turbo replaced

Taking it in next week to have the fuel filter assembly replaced for air getting into the system.

But at 36K miles, I still have the original EGR!

The Honeywell/Garrett VGT does not have a wastegate. This is a common misconception on the turbo.

1. Wiring issues with tail lights, kept blowing fuses on turn signals, 4th trip (I think) to shop found that the wire loom was to close to something in the exhaust system and had melted the wiring. Replaced loom and rerouted no problems since. This was in the first 1000 miles.
2.EGR failed and caused a check engine light, less than 3000 miles.
3. ball joint recall
4. F37 recall

3 and 4 done at same time about 2 weeks ago. 15,000miles approx.

I have changed the oil and driven it.

WOW, what did that cost the insurance company?

My, that must have been a hefty deer. I've seen pictures of a few other fatal deer encounters with Liberties and the vehicles were not messed up that much.

Oops, How did I forget the U-Joints. That was my first repair. Gotta love that torque. :o I'll have to edit my list.

Good spot. I'll have to ask the dealer.I just wanted the buzzing to stop. According to my invoice it has a wastegate solenoid. It's on the passengerside near the fire wall. Mine was buzzing so loud that you couldn't even hear the engine at idle in the cab.

I agree that the CRD turbo has no wastegate, but the vacuum line sticker under the hood shows one. Presumably they are referring to the solenoid which operates the actuator for the variable portion of the turbo. This fits right in with the DC parts system referring to the butterfly valve in the intake as a throttle body. No wonder some dealers don't want to touch these things. They are flying blind!

And the winner is...................

LONGARM

I have not the patience nor the time to type all 28 pages of my repair history out. It must be something, becuase DCX called me regarding my Lemon Law claim and asked me to pick out a replacement vehicle of my choice within a similiar MSRP range.

Will 28 pages of repair history get me in the winners circle?

Lets all hope that the bean counters get stuck driving the Lemons that people make DC buy back. It would be a crying shame if they just get smashed, they could also be used as great learning tools for the engineers that have to make these things work. Often in my line of work the part that failed was usually the cause of some other part being installed wrong or being broken also. I would hazard a guess that the earlier 3/4 of us are having these problems because the test mules were not assembled in the plant like ours were.

I have to be close to Longarm. Just got mine back after the second F37. I like the F37 so much I did it twice. 74 total days in the shop now! Get this my CRD goes back in on Tuesday. They replaced the TC, pump and filter and it still rattles. So it will be in the shop all next week too. Unbelievable!

How could a car manufacturer even attempt to built such a POS?

How could a self respecting dealership let that go out the door with the problem not fixed. Seriously I think that a lot of the problems when a recall such as this are mostly attributed to poor techs at the dealership.

74 days total in the shop is a sure lemon law case victory! You should look into a good lemon law attorney.
