We won't take possesion of our "new" 2006 Liberty for a month or so. In the meanwhile, can approximate build date be determined by VIN serial number? Ours is 187936. I'd like to know if it has some of the problematical 2005 parts. Thanks! |

You can look on the door sticker to get the month and year. My January 25, 06 build that does not have a f37 recall has a vin of 193701. I think DVCRD is keeping tract of dates. FWIW my tranny is listed twice, DGES and DGQ and the torque converter is DHAP, on the build sheet

Like Joe said, you really need to look at the sticker on the door. The VIN can tell you lots, including build YEAR, but not date. My 12/05 built 2006 has a 108164, so going by that, you should be OK as far as the F37 is concerned. From what I gather, you may want to stay away from anything built before Nov 2005. |

U can also go to Jeep.com and plug your vin# in for "some" info on recalls |

Thanks for the info. I'd look at the door, but the car is at the dealer in Pennsylvania, and we're in Oregon. Seems like it should be OK with that serial number. |

Mine is an April 2006 build date with a VIN of 254909 if that helps. |

Mine rolled off the line in May/06, #265778. There is a sticker on the fuel injection control module that says software update #153990. Any ideas what that might mean? No probs so far except a bad battery, replaced, warranty of course, at 7800 kms. No recalls listed on Jeep.com. |
