I just heard about a recall on A/C problems for 2006 and 2007 Libertys. Anyone know if this applies to CRD?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the AC cylces on on almost all the settings even when the "AC BUTTON" is not depressed (and I don't mean sad  )

something about an overheating part in the dash. I wasn't listening until Liberty was mentioned. 02-06 Liberty among other models involved.

So a few people report dash fires and DX addresses the problem immediately but having built 11,000 CRD's that studder and stall in traffic isn't a big deal? I just don't understand DX.

My sentiments exactly.

At least it isn't related to the engine or tranny. Also good that it isn't specific for the CRD...but that really scares me that they mentioned fires.

If all continues, we will have completely rebuilt CRD's by the time we reach the end of extented warranties, for those that have them.

Wonder if will be eligible for another 7yr/100K warranty at the price when the vehicle is new.

But I forgot, by then Jeep will be owned by someone else or dissolved anyway so it may be a moot point.

Tell me about the studder :!: Today the wife and I took our first trip in our 06. I've gotten it a lot around 54 mph before but today I jumped it up to 70 getting on I-71 then eased up and the rocking chair turned into a bucking bronco  Much different feeling :(

By the way I averaged 24.1 mpg with speeds of about 70 and mostly rain on just over 400 miles. Just turned 6k miles and I calculated it by hand.

That's fairly easy to fix.

Joe,
I had the same bucking sensation which went away about the same time I got one of the reflashes. I can't recall which reflash, but I believe it was the one that also took away the ability to accelerate quickly from 50 to 70 (hey, just DCX engineers thinking outside-the-box). There is also a good chance this is caused by air in the fuel.

Could very well be air even though I had bled it Friday. Mine is already detuned. It does not get f37 and I think it was detuned right after I got it, June maybe, and had the coolant hose pop off or it came that way. I know they did the body module update and thinking back I believe it ran much better before I took it in. It only had 600 miles on it and I think I remember it having more gusto off the line  Now it's anemic  It studdered several times yesterday and it was a nice almost warm day where we were (down through Kentucky and into Indianna). I've noticed that it studders more when the air temperature is warmer.

I got a good laugh last week when the Chevy dealer drove me home (in the CRD) after trading it in. He was on the expressway and floored-it to pass a slow truck. Got a really bad turbo-lag style hesitation, some smoke and anemic response. His immediate response, "I thought these were runners?!?" I just smiled and told him it was, once upon a time.

It's a good feeling, this was one of the first weekends in almost 18 months that I wasn't messing with some mechanical issue on the Jeep. Had time to change the oil and detail my old Chevy pick-up so I can get it up for sale. That old V-6 runs spooky smooth on the 5W40 Rotella I had purchsed for the Jeep.

Thanks for the directions. I have one question, does the compressor run in defrost but I suspect not?

thanks
Joe

It does not run in the defrost position, unless you turn it on using the A/C button after this mod is complete.

Otherwise, when stock, it does run in any position clockwise after the bi-level mode (which is the 12 o-clock position on the selector).
