| Post subject: | Request: Transmission fluid level explained |
I'm getting ready to put about 1400 miles on the beast with a trailer tied on the back. Before I do it would be great if someone explained the transmission fluid level problem(if it is) for me. I haven't had any problems(knock, knock) but I only have 18k on her so far. Was there a problem with the dipstick being mismarked? Was DC trying to save a few bucks from the factory and leaving the trans a little low? Did it show as low from factory? If there is something I'm missing here, please don't hesitate(as u always do) to let me know.... Thanks in advance, WWV '06 Silver Sport |

I haven't heard of a tranny stick being mismarked. The oil dipstick on some seem to be off. Mine was a little low from the factory. Topped it off at home the night of the purchase. Less than a qt. |

I think Trans fluid problems were limited to some 05's that came from the dealer low - causing some of the initial Transmission fails - and then Techs who actually believed DC's F37 guidelines and added only 1 1/2 quarts of oil after a TC change................. those are the only 2 issues I've seen - to check 1) Trans should be warm 2) Need to have cycled through forward and reverse 3) Need to be in Park with the engine idling |
