Owned about 15 Jeeps over the past 8 years, mostly cherokees though, and yesterday I picked up the first liberty yet. I have never been a huge fan of the liberty, and still dont know how I feel about it, but its 5 years newer than my cherokees and its a CRD. In reality if it hadnt been for the CRD then I wouldnt have gone for it. Well here it is, I will go back down to the auction thurs and finish payment and arrange the tow, I might get it friday or early next week, the wait is killing me. http://klode.com/Kws/Napplications/disp ... Exit=Close Not sure when I will get on repairs. I think it will be sitting in the garage for a month untill my semester ends, then I will get crackin on it. |

I cant believe you actually found a wrecked one! Nice find...what did it go for...if you dont mind telling of course. Are you going to fix it back stock, or make a beast out of it? That could be lots of fun. Welcome to your new fulltime home away from home, you can learn more about your CRD here than anywhere else. |

I hope you didnt pay more than a few grand for that, it looks like it needs frame work or at least all new driver side suspension and drivetrain components. How much did you get that for? You do also realize that those parts that it needs cost top dollar on the newer KJs, a front bumper cover from the dealer is at least $600. You might get lucky and find another wrecked one with the parts you need. I'm in Denver and can lend a hand if you need one. Where are you located? |

Looks like a great little find. If your looking for a new front bumper I would sell you one pretty cheap. |

SirSam, Welcome to the forums. From the pics, it doesn't look too bad...definitely NOT frame damage bad. My daughter did similar damage to an 02 Liberty, except she tore the whole wheel off when she hit a landscapers' trailer that was parked beside the road. I got off with about 3500 in repairs, and that included replacing the steering rack. From the pic of the odometer, it appears this CRD has already had the ORM performed on her. |

This is actually the 2nd rolled CRD I have bid on, and the 4th that has been at my local auction. About 13 months ago I was bidding on an 05 with 7500 miles on it, it sold for 3300, my highest bid was 3200...... Otherwise there was a wrecked 05 limited with repairible left side damage that sold at auction when I had no money to spend, and a VERY HARD rolled 06 limited that just dissappeared from the auction inventory about 2 months ago(not sure where it went). It will be going back to stock, its actually destined to be my fathers Jeep, right now he has an 00 XJ freedom, and my 93 Nissan 300zx convertible, and I want my convertible back. So this will get fixed and then he will start driving it, and I will get my convertible back. Drivers side suspension is fine, the tire and wheel both appear OK, however the tire has come unseated. I dont know where you get the figure of $600 for the front bumper, but I just called the Dealer and this is the shop pricing for several of the parts I will be replacing: Bumper cover- $90.10 Drivers side fender flare - $112 Parking light - $38.63 Marker light - $24.74 Drivers Side Mirror - $93.50 Left rear 1/4 Panel skin - $259.25 Roof panel w/sunroof - $210.95 I appreciate the offer of help, and Im sure there will be a steep learning curve since this is the first libby I've repaired, but I will be putting my father to good use since this is his Jeep. I goto CSU and live up here in Fort Collins. spencevans wrote: Looks like a great little find. If your looking for a new front bumper I would sell you one pretty cheap. Thanks for the offer, but by the time we arrange shipping and such its pretty hard for me to beat $90 new from the dealer, and for what I'd want to pay for it after shipping would just be insulting. Thanks though! widowmaker wrote: SirSam, Welcome to the forums. From the pics, it doesn't look too bad...definitely NOT frame damage bad. From the pic of the odometer, it appears this CRD has already had the ORM performed on her. While I cannot attest to the ORM, I did notice there was a dealer service sticker with a code on it indicating it had a PCM reprogram done to it. All in all I expect to have about 9500 into it by the time it looks pretty again. |

I was a told 600 from a guy that sells used parts and he told me $600, I'm glad to hear they are much less. How much after all the lights and other items like rivets and stuff? From the photos, it looked like it was t-boned and got crunched, any detail on the extent of the damage? How do you destroy a wheel on a roll-over, that must have been one interesting story... |

Well the key could have just been turned to "On" in which case, the CEL illuminates anyway. |

From the photos, it looked like it was t-boned and got crunched, any detail on the extent of the damage? How do you destroy a wheel on a roll-over, that must have been one interesting story... I believe that essentially what happened here was during our dec/jan snows(this jeep first showed up on the auction inventory in late jan) it rolled. I believe it caught a curb or something like a snow pile on the left side which prompted the roll. This Jeep MUST have rolled in snow. Any rollovers that occur on or off road always leave scratches and other marks, even the smallest pebble when it had 4000lbs of wieght on it leaves alot of damage. I see nothing like that on this Jeep. My accident reconstruction so far has been that it caught something on the left front which in seated the tire(like a curb, and then it inertia started it rolling) and then it rolled over in soft snow onto its top, therefor rolling it over on something realatively soft. Not sure how the repair will proceed, either I will be welding in a new roof panel or jacking this one strait. I am leaning toward replacing the roof panel, though that is alot of work to strip out interior and weld in a new one, but it would be the best way to fix it. the rear 1/4 panel is a PITA and since it is only cosmetic it may not be replaced untill later, first priority is to get it repaired for inspection so it is road-legal again. |
