I'm just curious why these coil springs for our Jeeps are so difficult or expensive to produce. Am I wrong in assuming that they are just spring steel/straight rate/rubberized coils with closed ends? It seems we should be able to find a commercial spring distributor who has whatever you would need. I would understand specialty variable-rate springs and whatnot but this just seems like too simple a part. Am I missing something?

Try these guy's,fill out a quote for your vehicle, you can get custom lengths and the spring rates you want.I was going to get some from them but I'm going a different way with the KJ.They quoted me $168+ shipping for the front coils(3" lift,500lbs spring rate) and $148 for the rears(3" lift,500lbs spring rate),that price is for a pair.I had to call them to make sure of the spring rates though, very nice poeple to.-----http://www.coilsprings.com/--------click on the custom situations link.

That's the type of pricing that I was finding as well.... I just figured I was missing something when I find springs that will work without the spacers at half the price or so....

Highly doubt you will find what your looking for much less, not with the price of steel rising everyday, you can only expect the prices to rise for coils(and all other things we want that is steel).
