Just thought I'd pass this along. So far I'm happy with it.

Would really benefit if you would change oil and take a sample for a test. Then take another sample on the new oil for the same length of time. It would be interesting to see the silica in the oil after both samples.

I have a Scangauge and it reads the intake air temp. I wonder if having the filter open in the engine bay will allow it to pick up more heat versus the stock setup where it draws in cool air.

Maybe try resetting the computer (disconnecting power) so that you can start from a new baseline (no stored learning) with the new filter.

i believe the sensor you are refering to is actualy the Mass air flow sensor not the air temp sensor,
I believe (though have been wrong b4) the air temp sensor is also the manifold pressure sensor and is on the other side of the turbo (pressurised side, so it should measure an increase in air temp when in boost). This sensor has an article here on LOST about it, in such article it is said the sensor gets sooted up and reads poorly and should be periodicly cleaned. There is another article here on LOST refering to the MAF sensor in the off road mod or ORM.

Though the result would be the same, if input air temp is variable, the sensor would reflect that change regardless of where its located but just thought i would chime in

There are 2 intake temp sensors. One on the air filter box, and one in the intake manifold - which is also a boost pressure sensor.

Probably the one in the intake manifold, as people are reporting 130F. I could believe that, even post intercooler.

This has been the debate on open elements from day one....My experierence on a non-intercooled PSD, is it makes no noticable difference....If it is hotter air being drawn in, the increased volume/reduced restriction makes up for hotter air....power wise.
