Today I took my CRD in for the annual smog test. In this area (CO Front Range) all diesels have to pass a dyno test that measures emissions under load. From the sound of what was going on they rev it up pretty good, probably more than I ever do. When I left the test station the EVIC was showing 23.4, pretty normal considering I had done mostly city driving since last fillup about 100 miles ago. The trip home is all freeway with a slight elevation gain (1000ft) in about 20 miles. Usually the EVIC will not change much from a mid-20s reading doing this drive. The Jeep seemed to run normally. When I was near home I noticed it was showing 17 mpg and still dropping. This is a reading I've never seen before. No CEL yet. Should I be worried? I'm thinking stuck EGR. Should set CEL, right? What else? Thanks. Steve |

The overhead readings do not always keep a great average over a long period of time. If you reset and test it, you will get a better idea of what you are getting now. It is still best to do actual miles/gallons |
