So I got my Diesel Power mag the other day and one of the first things that caught my attention was the new 2.9l V6 engine from VM Motori. The new VM poduces 250hp at 4000 rpm and 401 ft-lbs of torque at 2000 rpm. That's more torque than GM's 6.0 VortecMAX. The engine will make it's debut in Europe in the '08 Cadillac CTS. GM does plan to make the VM part of the american line up soon.

So odd thing about the new diesel motor. The EGR system is built into the heads, and the vacuum pump is built into one of the heads.

I really hope the engine is a success. It could only help resale value.

The H3 could also use some aerodynamic help as well... that's its main problem, and due to its family styling, that'll never happen.

That would be awsome.

It's coming to the american market, in which vehicle is the question.

This engine will never find it's way into the Escalade. It was design to be as compact as possible for cars and small SUV's. I imagine it will first be offered in the CTS like in Europe.

I like the part where it says itcan be adapted to 4x4 applications. Does GM have some secrects up their sleeve.

I DON'T like the idea ofa built-in EGR. Imagine the trouble we'd have had if OUR'S had been built-in!

And then how you you "off-road" modify it if it's built-in? I won't be the first to buy this one. Which doesn't matter anyways, because it probably will only be available in Europe first.

Hopefully GM will do their homework and mate it with a more suitable transmission that the 2.8

I'm still waiting for the mini-me 4.2L V-6 Cummins that Diesel Power wrote up a few months back:

They should put it in the solstice/sky. That would be a fun car, with great economy.

Can't remember what magizine did it but the put a 6.6 Duramax in a H3,can you say torque monster?I think small deisels will not be widely available in the US because of our strict emissions that are set to increase again, driving deisel vehicles $$$ up again. There was a 1 yaer backlog for getting a '07 deisel in the big rigs due to the emissions, nobody wanted to pay the extra $10,000-$15,000 for a '08 model.
