Had to take some pics of the 1/4 panel to convince my father the right way to fix it is to weld in a new 1/4 panel, he isnt convinced thats the way to do it yet so I figured I would try and show him that this is the better way to go.

I also finally washed the january road grime off it it, much cleaner now......

Nice photos....you got some serious work ahead of you!

Are you dead-set on returning it to stock? I still think you have an opportunity to do some kick-a$$ customizing.

For example: Trying to make a soft-top would actually seem to be less work than restoring the sun roof and roof...which will probably always leak anyways (PITA)

Or how about you make a gladiator (pick-up)? (There was some talk about this, might besome body strength issues for that one, actually)

Just a thought. What a project! Good for you!

Sam,

I agree with Biojeep. How about doing a custom canvas sunroof, similar to what the new 2008 Liberty will have?

Also -- have you gotten a chance to fire it up and drive it yet?

Honestly for a $7100 investment thats too much to chop into pickup thing or something else, Ive toyed with that idea a fair amount and can justify it on a 6 year old cherokee for $1000 with a clean title, but cannot on a 2 year old CRD that still has some real value to it.

Yes it took a little bit to get it firing, most of the oil had run out when it rolled over, then the battery had to be trickle charged overnight, once it started cranking it would still not start, had to pump about 60 times to get the air out of the system, then when i started it up it blew alot of smoke:

So I had to open the back door to the garage and put some fans behind the exhaust to blow out the smoke.....
The smoking got better after it had been run a little and warmed up, I decided to check the airfilter......

Which had become coated in oil during the rollover, so after replacing the air filter I start it up and check out the exhaust.......

I still need to check ATF levels and also add some powersteering fluid.
