Jacking up on the roofline:
Jacking on the right fornt corner:
Jacking done, drilling out spot welds begins.
6 hours later, roof is off:
Rear door reinstalled, the geometry of the hatch had been askew and the tailgate had been jammed, if you notice in this pic http://colorado4wheel.com/images/libby/libby49.jpg The gap between the rear tailgate and the body is quite large there, it is now fixed and operates properly.
When I moved in I only had 2 lights in the garage, the ones on the left, well I went ahead and put up a bunch more, so its nice and bright!
Ordered my parts from the dealer, when I checked about all of them before they told me it would only take a day to get them in, this time they tell me 3-5 days for the roof panel......grr soo....All my parts will be there tomorrow except for the roof panel......which if I am lucky will be there on friday at the earlyest, and tues next week at the latest(memorial day is mon) |

I have to say, with the roof sheet metal removed, that actually looks pretty cool. All i can hear in the back of my head is "soft top"... Maybe think about it? Heck, maybe *I* should think about it down the road! Livin |

Heck, maybe *I* should think about it down the road! Livin HEY! you mean you have the same voices in your head too?? i would have to agree... I keep seeing something like the soft tonneau cover for trucks... the ones that slide open and close on a rail system. |

This is awesome! I have never been able to see this kind of work before, not from a distance and certaintly not up close! I really REALLY appreciate the postings of this restoration. Thanks. |

I agree with....everyone! Thanks for posting the picts of this resto job! Very cool. The idea of a soft top has been tumbling around in my mind for a while. I love my sunroof, but I wish it went back further....*mind wandering*...next thing I know I'm thinking about how to weather-seal the leading edge of a cloth top. |

That must be a loud voice....since we are all hearing it That is a lot more body work then I would want to take on. I don't have the paticence for it....Very cool project though.... Personally, I'd be all over a sawzall and tubebender, then to a shop for a soft top. |

Did you consider maybe pulling the drive train and installing in a high mileage 02 that you could pick up cheaply? |

There was a CRD that was totalled destroyed in the rollover, it had no hope of ever being right again, thats the kind you chop up. |

I've always dreamed of doing exactly what your doing, only with motorcycles (much easier). I see wrecked bikes out there that are totaled by insurance, but could realistically be fixed for very little money. If I only had the time, space, and money. |

If it doesn't have the 7 pin connector, I'd suggest it. I wouldn't ever pull any real trailer without breaks, they are just to important. K |

Sam, Do you have any pics taken from up high (or overhead if you can swing it) from the front and/or rear of the open roof area? Could you snap a couple? Thanks for sharing, this is good stuff. |
