I have an 06 CRD in which I had F37 done December of last year. The dealer only replaced the torque converter. I have not had any leaks or problems with the new torque converter. However I am looking to get the suncoast torque converter. Is there a way to tell if I have the new style transmission oil pump without have to drop the transmission? Based upon the julian date stamped on the transmission, it looks like it was built late August of 2005. Thanks. |

You would have the new style pump only if it was installed after a torque converter failure or during the F37 recall if they noticed a problem (or complained loud enough in my case). This pump was first available during the Summer of '06 and comes in kit form with a new transmission cooler/AC condensor combo. |

Does anyone know if the new oil cooler that comes with the new transmission oil pump is a result of having greater cooling capacity than the old oil cooler or is just being replaced because jeep thinks that the cooler may be partially blocked by metal pieces from the old oil cooler? Thanks. |

Most opinions say Partial Blockage and general failure parts buildup. K |

One of the earliest posts I saw on a CRD owner having a tranny cooler replaced included the work order description. The new cooler was called "updated" - interesting description. I'll post part of the description below - it's a copy from another forum. One would think an update on a tranny cooler would be more cooling ability. "repair as per star. road test vehicle and verify engine dies at stops. perform star scan and found no DTCs present. attempt to flash program trans control module. module is up to date. contact star multiple times. star recommend replace torque converter, front pump, both trans filters, and trans cooler. remove trans switch valve. also replace torque converter due to converter clutch failure. no debris found in trans. replace both trans filters, backflush and flow ck cooler lines at 11 psi. remove and replace trans cooler with updated cooler as per star. fill trans to spec. during time of repair, daimler issued RRT service action 06-002. rev and ck and flash program both pcm and tcm to latest software and install update labels. road test vehicle and verify repairs.
