Post subject:  Intercooler Hose Went Tango Uniform

Towing our boat to our lake cabin this weekend, we got the dreaded CEL light. Owner's manual says it's ok to drive as long as it's not flashing, so we don't panic. I take it to the dealer on Tuesday, and they found the hose had popped off. I guess it was damaged too, because they decided to replace it. The CEL code showed "turbo pressure inconsistancy" or something like that. I was freaking hoping it wasn't the turbo damanged.

I thought it might be the hose, because I had read about it on this and other forums, but I couldn't find the intercooler or the hoses for anything looking down at the top of the engine bay. Where the heck is the intercooler on these things? I've got a TMIC on my WRX, but I have no idea where it is on these. I'll look closer at it just so I know the next time, but any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

It is located just in front of your radiator. The hose on the top left over the radiator is probably the one that went bad (The Inlet)...otherwise the hose that is at the right of the radiator that goes to your EGR valve is the outlet.

Knowing that having the oil residue from the CCV flowing in to this hose and that it's not fuel-rated (which is what you'd need for it to be able to stand up to oil), what is the magic incantation to get the dealer to replace these with the newer units that ARE fuel rated (and thus less likely to pop off...)?

I've been running a Provent for about 2000 miles. I just emptied my drain tube the other day. Probably got about 2oz of the nastiest black goop out of it you've ever seen. It was GROSS!! So happy it's not being sucked back into my turbo.

The dealership was great about it. Since we didn't have an appointment, they did take until the next day to diagnose it, but they ordered the parts and got it fixed the next day. So, a total of three days. They also took care of a new recall regarding the blower motor. We have an extended warranty, so got a rental in the deal. I've been really impressed by the way these guys have handled the CRD. No complaints whatsoever.

FWIW they are Westgate Chrysler in Plainfield Indiana just west of Indianapolis.
