Post subject:  Goodyear... more like good luck.

Between these and the Goodyear tires that came on my Corolla (The Goodyear "Integrity". Integrity, yeah right-- Paris Hilton in a hottub full of olive oil would have more traction than those tires). I like what I hear about the MTR's and the silent armors, but I will not give my money to Goodyear while they make such unsafe crap and charge top dollar for the name.

Would you believe Discount wanted $120 for a new Goodyear OEM tire? Of course, the only reason I needed a new tire is because a little itty-bitty thorn went straight thru the sidewall of the Goodyear... Crazy.

Is that the spare or have you been driving the tire?

It had been the spare on the Jeep, however I think the reason it was the spare was because something had put a hole in the tread, after using a plug kit to plug the hole I aired it up and found this, I decided it wasnt even worthwhile as a spare tire and had it switched for an old 16inch tire that came off my 00 Cherokee.

I couldn't agree with you more on the poor quality of the OEM tires. I changed mine out at 12k with the first snow. I could not get out of a parking lot in 4wd when others with just FWD were having little problems. Plus, they were also lousy in the rain.

I got Michlelin LTX and have had good traction and wear.

Wow! Makes me glad I got a credit for the OEM tires and changed them out when I first got my Libby.

I put on Bridgestone Dueler AT's. Been a really good tire for mud and snow and, even though living on gravel roads and covering all the farm, I have never had a flat either. I am unimpressed with the tread life, but the tire has performed pretty darn good.

I don't feel so bad in making that change. Whew.... dodged a bullet!

I'm one of those!
I suffered through the Goodyears for 28k, not really knowing how much they sucked. Now I have the Yokos and love'em!

Happens quite a bit when someone needs to spread the word. No worries for me.

I couldn't agree more about the stock tires. We live about a mile down a gravel road and my wife's libby had three flat tires in the first 15K miles. They where split on the inside from the gravel. After #3 we put on some BFGs. My wife said that the ST must stand for sh4tty tire. That's pretty funny for her to say something like that since it is so out of character for her. I put on some Wrangler Extreme on the 06 Ram and I can't stand them. Now more Goodyear products for me.

I lasted 6000 miles on the OEM tires. It was only lack of traction in AZ mud and monsoons that made their lack of quality obvious!
I love my Bridgestone Dueler Revos! My first drive on them and I thought I was driving a different car! Less sway, tighter and faster
cornering (highway) and overall a much more solid vehicle. I kept the OEMs long enough to be disgusted and dumped them soon
enough to dodge the failure bullet. Not smart enough, however, to change them out at time of purchase!

I just got home with my new Michelin Cross Terrains (235/70/16). Got 53K out of the OEMs, but what a difference new meats make!

I got a question for the group. Are there alignment adjustments for the rear wheels on our rigs?

Pep boys has some pretty good cheap tires. I put a set of DEFINITY MT's on my f-250 and they are great meats (the AT's would be better for highway use). they have a good ride on the truck but I dont know how they would be on the CRD. They were only $125.00 a pop (less for the sizes used by our jeeps) and buy 4 and get 1 for free. you could buy two sets for the same price of a set of Michelins etc.

The Michelins were $137 each at BJ Wholesale Club (plus no tax in DE), and Michelin has a $50 rebate this month when you buy 4 tires. The price was all inclusive - mounting, balance, disposal, road hazard, and free rotations. So my final price was $124.50 each.

There are alignment adjustments on all 4 wheels.
