Hello - what do you all think is the best budget minded lift for a crd? I am looking for a 2" lift and the biggest tire I can fit with it. I am sure this is debated somewhere on the board, but the search pulls up a million topics. |

The OME spring will get you around 2"...with the OME struts and shocks you will have a great riding vehicle. If you want to go less expensive, I like the RevTek 2" spacers or Daystar 2" pucs with Rancho front struts and Rancho rear shocks. |

I got a 1.5" 2.0" lift and 255/70/16 GB AT2's. With minor trimming in the front, I found this to be the perfect combination. Since I busted one of my factory struts, I will purchase OME struts and the new OME HD CRD springs next week. This is supposed to give me the same amount of lift and a better ride.

Agreed with Endurance: 1.5/2.0 daystar now OME - when somting breaks I am runnning 245-70 -16s but I bounce around a lot on the trails so I like the extra room. This set up will leave you with a 1" front lower "rake" which I also like. Measured by the bottom of the rocker from behind the front wheel well to the rear rocker in front of the rear tire. |

Has anyone used the rocky road lifts. The rockfather looks really nice, but a little expensive. I am thinking about going with the rocky road 2.5 and the rocky road hydro shocks - any experiences, opinions? |

Don't do it, First off RRO has terrible customer service. Second, the hydroshocks are too narrow for the mounts on the KJ. Third, no matter what they tell you, RRO does not have a lift that is compatible with the CRD. Call ALLJ's and get the CRD Frankenlift. I only speak from experience because I used to have a RRO lift and now I have a CRD Frankenlift. |

They do have a CRD compatible lift, I have the Rocky Road 2.125 Combo lift and been very happy with it. No sagging after a year, CV angles are pretty much level. The lift is basicly the Daystar 2 "spacer lift and a set of OTT spacers for the front. I'm still running stock shocks and struts, no issues with contact. Mild to medium offroading, a lot of towing. I agree that thier customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but I haven't been disappointed by thier products. I considered the Frankenlift before I bought this, It seems to be the best kit out there, but not complete. You still need to change out your upper A arms to be able to align the front end. I decided, that for me, the additional cost of the Frankenlift was better spent elsewhere. The next improvement I will make is to replace the rear spacer with new springs and shocks and a new bump stop, the rear spacer actually helps prevent stuffing the tire too deep into the wheel well, but also limits the maximum travel. Stock rear springs are very short. |

We put a Skyjacker 2" spacer lift on our CRD two years ago. Been to Moab and other 4WD places with no problem. I run 245's on ours, and could run larger if I trimmed the plastic away. |

After doing some research it looks like rusty's 2.5 kit is the best bang for the buck. It gets you the spacers and front shocks for $159. Anybody had any good/bad experiences or just opinions with this on a CRD? I mostly commute with this vehicle, 100 miles round trip each day, but about once a month my work takes me out on oilfield roads or pipeline right of ways and I have to get rowdy on it. I'm tired of bottoming out, but it is only once a month. I still need the thing to not beat me up on my daily commute. WOW, I can defenitely recommend OME HD struts and coils in the front. Awesome ride and they go along perfect with the daystar 2" rear spacers. No experience with it - it's a spacer that's under the Clevis - keeps the stock Springs - it should work You need to check bump stops , you don't want the stuts to top out (that's what kills the OTT lifts) and you want something to prevent upper ball joint to spring contact - the older Frankenlifts use a rubber spacer and hose clamp, around the base. |
