Howdy,

I was tinkering around under my CRD's hood last night (wondering about a pro-vent mod location), when I got to wondering whether or not my Liberty (a 2006 purchased used w/ 6000 miles on it) had ever had the infamous F37 "enhancement" applied to the transmission's electronic controller.

The only recall sticker under the hood of my Jeep is for the F31 recall. In poking around on the Jeep web site when I first bought it, there were no outstanding TSB's listed for my vehicle (had to plug in the VIN number).

Anyone know of a simple way to figure out whether or not an F37 was applied? My dealer isn't going to be much help (the Jeep was originally bought 250 miles away, and was traded in a few months back).

I've never found a recall sticker under my hood and I've looked everywhere. When I had the dealer run the report on my CRD, it showed no outstanding recalls. Mine is a 2005 model.

Go to Jeep.com and enter the Vin. It will tell you if it hasn't been done. You need to use upper case on the letters of the vin.

According to the dealer print out, it has been done. I just don't have a sticker.

It seems to me that I had this discussion with my dealer and the only time a sticker is required is if it is a recall or if the modification is the result of a change tha meets a government requirement. The F31 was a TSB but it was also a government requirement because the earlier change had made the OBD port access limited to reading by many service outlets. The F-37 is just a TSB to keep the transmission from blowing up and making DC have to spend more later if it happens under warranty so no sticker required.

My ECM has a sticker that says "authorized software update" :( I think they updated it when they did the flash on the body control module in June 06. I've not gotten the F31 done yet. Also if yours is a 06 and was made some where around December of 05 you have the supposed "good" torque converter and you'll not get F37 just the flash update  Check the MFG date on the door post :D

I am not sure why you keep making the F31 sound bad Joe. I have not towed with my early '06 but I had it before and after the F31 with no difference that I could tell in performance...except it went into gear when I shiffted it there. Most of the negative comments have come from the F37 as that is where the de-tune has been done to help protect the poor quality TC that Jeep keeps putting back in. My dealer doesn't like the F37 either and has cautioned me against it.

I bought my '05 after the F37 had been done so I don't know any difference. Mine has always run strong and returned excellent mileage. I just had InMotion do a chip tune on it, and it runs even better. It's not sports car fast, but believe me, it will get out of it's own way and keep the rear Goodyears at their limit of grip.

If you are unhappy with the F37...send your ECU to InMotion. There is no question the bottom end is much stronger.

How is the smoke level after the InMotion upgrade?

It's not a TSB. It is a customer satisfaction recall if I remember right. Big difference.

I have never noticed my CRD smoking. Of course, I'm always driving it, and I can't see the tailpipe, but I've never seen any visable smoke.

Noob here. I'm dipping my toe into the CRD waters. I think this may be the vehicle for my lifestyle.
At any rate, I popped the last 8 digits of the VIN into the box on Jeep.com's website and here is the answer:
" No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist"
Does this mean that all recalls have been done?

Dave.

Mine got casterated at the same time the BCM was done. Very definet reduction of low end grunt. They didn't say anything about doing that. They were just supposed to top off the coolant because of a hose coming off and the BCM flash. Now there's 3 outstanding recalls on it and I fear taking it in because of what might happen  and what new supprise they will flash me with  But I really want to do some "off roading" and want to use vag-com to look at my computers
