I was pulling away from a stoplight and my jeep had no power. It would not rev over 1k rpm. I pulled over to the shoulder and shut it down. Before I shut it down it sounded like it was knocking hardcore. I let it sit about 5 min and restarted it and it ran fine. I don't know if the cel set because I have the ORM so its on all the time. Any idea what caused this or if I should take it in to the stealer? I only have about 1500 miles left on the 36k warranty.

When mine did that - I plugged the MAF back in - everything cleared after 3 engine cycles - and no problems - no repeats.

Try to get an Autozone to read the codes - I think the ORM gives P102 or 103 (not certain on those - might check the thread).

also - 05's should have 70K on the Powertrain - check your owners manual - but some things aren't covered.

Mine did that last year, pulled over and shut it off for a minute. Restarted and has run fine ever since.

Mine has done it 3 times, first time I drove home 70 miles, next day ran fine but went to dealer for other recall, no error codes, next 2 times pulled over for maybe 1 minute everting ok after that.

Hmmm, any body know if this was due to the ORM, or just a freak CRD thing? Guess I need to get that ORM circuit built up.

no relation to the ORM - as far as I could tell - the 1st posts about limp mode were a year before the ORM was 'developed' and the off/on seems to fix it - unplugging the MAF did not cause it to repeat.

undoing the ORM is just to allow the CEL to clear so you can see if there's another code. If you have a code reader you wouldn't even need to do that.

Mine did it once a couple of months ago and stalled on startup from a stop sign. Re-started and it was fine. No codes.

It's the CRD experience. She has done it once. It happened last year with only 5k on it. I was in the middle of no where getting on the freeway and she just gave up. I shut her down and immediately started her back up. She just coughed and sputtered. So I sat on the on ramp LOST without power. After a few minutes she started back up and hasn't coughed since. I'm not going to worry about it. At the time, it was completely stock... no orm, provent, or glasspack.

When it happened to me, I had not done the ORM.

Post subject:  HIT ME TODAY

Turned a corner and got the severe wallows. Others have posted no RPM but I had plenty of RPMs just no power, and a noisy clackty clack sounding motor. I was able to limp along until I got to a place to pull off and shut down. Let it set about 30 seconds then started it back up and it was fine. The last time I experienced it I died immediately then restartdd and I felt like it would die this time but it didn't. I glanced up at the EVIC just before I shut it down and noticed the MPG's had dropped .5 since just before the ecperience. added those back up asap after restart. I am just packing for a 160 mile drive but I think will stop by Shucks on the way out for a code read to see if anything recorded.

Happened once to me, once to the wife, the time I got it, a couple three pumps on the prime handle while shut down cured it....for now. :x
still have yet to happen again, waiting a couple thousand miles till i do the CAT filter, maybe a good overhaul fixes it? I prime the stocker every week or so when I think about it, get a half pump sometimes, so I think I have an air leak in the head somewhere, seems to be at the parting surface of the two plastic pucks, if I pump more than needed it seeps some there.
Don't know if I have enough of a problem to file a NHTSA claim, but I'm thinking about it.

I was thinking "AIR" when it happened. It acted like it was running on two cylinders. Unfortunately when I got to the autoparts place on the way out of town their code reader was defunct so I don't know if it threw a code. It would be great to see what was going on with a Scan Gauge II when this happened. Has it happened to anyone with one?

I have not seen any leakage on my filter head but I am going to check it in the morning and if their is a hint of fuel I am hauling out the camera and filing a report.
