EDIT: I FOUND IT. Don't know how it came off but it bounced to a place unseen until the Liberty got moved!!! I just pulled the OEM filter off in prep to install the Wix/Napa filter. There is no "0" ring on the center portion of the OEM, just a cupped spot in the metal where it might have been. I have viewed the puck from the ground and can see no "0" ring on the filter screw in nipple nor can I feel one with my fingers from above. I have checked on the ground and anywhere else that it might have fallen off but there is no ring anywhere. I would guess that it would not have been loose enough to simply fall out, it would either stick to the filter or to the nipple. Is this normal? Should I keep looking before I install the Wix? Does this mean I have been running semi-unfiltered from the factory? (It had been under dealer maintenance through 25K and I am don't see that they ever changed it!) Thanks in advance. |
