Looks like it. Man this search engine is tricky to use. Took me a while to track it down. Here it is until it gets re-stuck. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=15249&start=0 [/code] |

Decided that it is better to ask the questions as a New Topic for more responses. |

ok then here we go! What kind of Wal-mart oil do we use for the motor, and how much. Is there a oil filter we can buy there or do we have to goto the dealer? Again at wal-mart or my auto part store, what kind of oil and how much for the front and rear diff. What type of gasket to re seal? |

unplug your CCV and run it into a coke bottle with some holes punched in it. Stuff it full of the Airfilter stuff when you change your house ac filter. |

They have Fram and thier own brand Suppertech or somthing like that. I have been using the Fram Tuffgaurd. They also have Mobil 1 turbodiesel/heavyduty full synthetic(still full synthetic) which seems to be a higher quality than the regular mobil 1 0-40 according to some other forums. |

My last oil change about 1500 miles ago (also my first since buying the truck) was with Mobil 1 0w-40.. engine seems to run smoother. |

I would recommend that you get a NAPA gold oil filter, and use the Shell Rotella T 5W-40 at Wal-mart. Its good oil and cheaper too And we must not forget about the belly hickey mod..... ![]()

Didnt i read somewhere, that the amount of oil you put in is something you have to watch?? How much goes in? |

Your joking, right? If not: Ok... Why, again? Didn't we work hard putting all that stuff together so we did not get a zillion repeat questions with a bunch of mis-information responses? |

The problem with the "format" of the sticky was that it was not specific. What I mean is that there is not a way to separate topics within the thread. Also, the questions were not always posted so it was confusing to some. I would rather set up a separate "TECH SECTIOn for the CRD" like I did years ago for the other KJs. I am going to leave this as a sticky for now...open up the Technical Article Section...and then close the sticky. It just needs to be more organized. |

That would be great if we had a tech for the CRD. There's a lot of BS that goes on in the CRD section, and it make searching hard some times |

An alternative would be to add CRD articles to the Tech section with a CRD prefix. Asking for a separate section might seem like a snub to the Gasser folks from us Star Bellied Sneeches. |

i think a CRD tech would be a great idea... Once all the info has been stated then have a mod. just post the facts... ie: Subject: Oil change in the CRD Oil - Mobil 1 Tubro Diesel 5w-40 Filter - Fram PHxxx Napa Gold 123456 brand X 987654 drain oil remove filter replace, close valve and fill with X quarts then start motor, run for x min. then check oil level, then fill to X on the dipstick. NEW THREAD Subject: changing oil in front and rear Diffs Oil : blah blah blah... NEW THREAD Subject: installing EHM Mod Get beer, open hood, open Beer, search for CCV, take a sip of beer.... anyway.. i would like to see something like that. I would also step up to put it togeather If the Mod Team would let me. (with out the beer part of course |

Asking for a separate section might seem like a snub to the Gasser folks from us Star Bellied Sneeches. Dont worry little gasser Sneetches Mr Mcbean can get you an oiler, just 3 dollars eaches You say you want a diesel, all nice and clean Just drive on up, to my diesel on machine Honestly though I think it would be a good idea one way or the other to have a CRD tech section. There is certainly enough CRD specific tech to justify it I think. |

YOU ROCK!!!! thanks! Now what would be the rules? can it be "closed" thread that only the FACTS will be posted? Just like in my prev. post, I really need to do an oil change next week. But i really dont know what all i need, In the past i just grab a gallon jug of Quaker State and a fram filter and away i go...(for my gasser) but we all know this is a whole other beast! well thats my .02 worth (or input Thanks again Darby for all the work you do for this group! (and of course the rest of the mod team!) |
