Spotted a used Liberty Limited diesel today. I see many people on this site looking for diesel liberties. Anyway it is located at Londonderry Ford Rte 102 Londonderry NH. They should have a web site. |

A friend of mine just bought one in Oregon. Around 11K oon the clock for an '06 Limited. They were asking over 27K and it didn't have many extras, just a base Limited. I think he did OK with his trade but still a lot of $$$. |

Sounds like I better get mine listed if people are paying that much for these used. I have tried several dealers trying to trade mine in on either a used or new Wrangler, all they offer is "Black Book" price....aka whole sale. What a bummer. |

I love my 06 liberty diesel and have no intention of selling it inspite of the problems associated with them. I'll see if there is a year and price on windshield. I will bet it goes fast. |

I guess I have to share this with the forum...I've been chit chatting with a dealer via internet trading my '06 on a used wrangler... I was even told to call a number and talk to this other person.... well all he basically told me is the libertys have no market value! Well I played along and said yes I know...sure, sure... Well what do you know, they have mine already listed on an online classified site for a whole bunch more money than they offered me on trade. I think I am going to have fun with this one..... bet I can up my trade in price if I play my cards right. Anyway, just thought I would share this... kind of like selling the horse before you even own it...haha. |

No dealer is willing to buy something for more than they can sell it for. That means you will not get the most for it trading it in. It is like selling something on consignment. You do not get all the money on the sale as the consignor gets a big cut-- but the likelyhood of it being sold goes up (in this case to 100%). Is that worth it to you? Are you in a hurry to sell? If a dealer tells you they are giving you a deal on your trade in... and shows you that they are giving you some high Kelly book value... that means they are using vehicle markup on the new car they are selling you to offset the money they are "giving" you on the trade in. So you pay more for the new car, and get more trade in on the old. The price is still the same-- and they make a profit regardless of how they account for this. It is numbers B.S. Retail price is numbers B.S. Nowadays employee price is numbers B.S. Finance rates are getting to be B.S. The accountants running these shell games have been doing this since the end of WWII and they find millions of ways to get you to spend more money while making you think you got a deal. Don't expect the dealer to give you as much money as you would get selling it yourself. |

They will not give anymore than they have to, just enough to get you interested in trading it in. They can make it look good on paper by shuffling the numbers around, but in the long run you always get hosed one way or another. The thing that surprised me was they have mine already listed for sale and we haven't even came close to putting anything on paper yet. It's kind of like going to Walwart, writing down someones VIN number and listing it for sale on the internet. Wonder what they will tell their customers who might call on mine wanting to look at it? "Oh another person is driving it?" haha. Anyway thanks for the reply. I'll keep you posted. |

My local dealer got an '05 CRD Limited in last week and by weekend it was sold. On the Grand CRD they were allotted 3, got one on dealer trade and have sold 2. The option was to have been extended to the Laredo but while it is still listed as an available option to the public it is not listed in the sales pages to order. |

Have your friend at work call the dealer and tell them they want it. "I will be down to buy it right now! What someone else it looking... I will double what they are paying!" Maybe you can get your money out of it that way! |

"I will be down to buy it right now! What someone else it looking... I will double what they are paying!" Maybe you can get your money out of it that way! Yep that was my first plan of attack. Had a relative that lives way south of here call and all but beg them for it no matter what the cost. Well they are getting ever so faster replying to me emails now...bet they would crap if someone walks in their door with cash wanting to drive it home...haha. Oh well, I have a hot line on a better Rubicon with more options, only 6700mi for less money total and I all but have the papers signed in three emails in just one morning. Now tell me why the other dealer has taken three weeks to even get close.....haha. Well I will keep you guys up to date on all the dealings... sure hate to let the diesel go, for a loss no less,,, but the routine priming is putting me closer every day. Thanks for all the support.. |

| Post subject: | Done Deal |
Well I hate to say it, I have the tentative deal all done today trading in my CRD for the Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. I will miss the diesel power and mileage, but won't miss all the skeletons in the closet just waiting to pop out at anytime. I wouldn't have done it, but I found an '05 with only 6700 miles on it, basically a rich guys weekend ride at his weekend house. Never been off road so it shouldn't be hurt too bad. Now for the other dealer that is trying to sell mine and hasn't even shown me any figures on trading with him, my relation has called twice, voice mail, third time he talked with a saleman telling him he wants this crd and will be in their town for business on Sat and will be brining a trailer and cash to take it home. He asked if it was on the lot,,, the salesman all but choked,,,, and said no but it is available....LOL. What a joke. Sure wish I had a lawyer friend.. can't be legal to try and sell some elses rig with out permission. Anyway, if you guys get bored and happen to do a search on auto trader. com,,, and happen to punch in 47303 for a zip, you might see my rig on there.... Oh there is an 800# to call if you are interested.....haha. I will keep you posted. |

It took a Jeep dealer here in WNC 4 + months to move my spotless, loaded 06 CRD 4x4 with 6k and 5 Michelin tires at 19,995 advertised. I didn't trade it to him but he got it from a wholesaler. I don't know if he sold it retail or gave it to another wholesaler. I got rid of it when I got another of those unending recall notices. That is probably close to the time interval required to move a new Liberty out of inventory. The new Wranglers move out very quickly from inventory. Some of the other models cannot be given away. |
