I know that most of us have 3.73 gearing, but what kind of fuel economy does the CRD get with 3.54 gears? Anyone have 3.54? If I recall it was only an option for the Sport model. Lewis |

I believe you recall wrong...or...Jeep does make mistakes on equipment option listings but the 3.73 was the only ratio used in the CRDs |

I think 3.55 was an option on some models, but 3.73 was the only one on the CRD. I remember trying to build one on their website with 3.55s and the diesel, but the choices were incompatible. |

It was an option on the Jeep website, could have been an error. Lewis |

3.54 axle ratio was only with a 6-speed manual and not available with CRD. |

Well, I'm a MPG freak, and fully believe that the engine has enough power to STILL pull 5k if the gearing is numerically dropped a bit... Has anyone looked into if parts are available, and how much it might be? |

basically front and rear end from junkyard, and prolly a dealer ecu reprogram for speed reading. |

Can get 2.2% drop by changing to a 235/75/16...and see if it helps after you adjust the odometer readings...just pay attention to tire weight Or go really crazy and become a "Hypermiler"... I am not condoning everything this guys does but some of the stuff (ridge riding, never idle, coasting to stops, airing up, ect) works and is not dangerous ( you will know which ones when you read it ) to do...If you are a mileage FREAK you will like this...and the Liberty odometer does not keep rolling when the key is off so it is hard to judge the "coasting"... http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature ... ilers.html Also this ratio/rpm/tire size chart might help: http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm |
