Where have you guys installed your senders? I figure the down pipe front half of the exhaust needs to come off and weld a bung in for the pyrometer probe. And the boost hase needs to go in the tube just after the turbo basically like all diesels. Have you guys had any troubles or anything with your instals? My tranny temp is installed thats why i did not ask about that. |

I forget who it was, but someone put the 'sender' in the outlet of the intercooler by drilling a hole and screwing the fitting in, which is probably what I'll do too once I get off my butt. What did you tap into for your lights? |

In the past, I've always installed a pyrometer (or EGT) in the exhaust manifold pre-turbo. I think you get a more accurate reading this way but you run the risk of damaging your turbocharger should the pyrometer's tip break off. That tip will get sucked right into the turbo.. whereas it won't if it's after the turbo. Just remember the turbocharger will act as an insulator to some degree so your readings will be cooler post-turbo. I've seen up to a 200 degree F difference between a pre and post turbo EGT installation on a gasoline powered vehicle. |

What did you tap into for your lights? You can buy a little copper fuse piggyback. They fit right around the fuse and give you a spade terminal to attatch the wire to.So you can just find one that works with ign. on and its fused that way real easy. |

The exhaust manifold is so short nobody has installed one pre-turbo. The readings will be lower after because of the pressure drop and energy loss across the turbine. Did you get a three gauge pod? |

I put it inline on the output to the cooler side .I cut the line and am using a t fitting some barbd fittings hose and clamps of course.I will be putting one in the input line as well with a toggle switch to moniter the temp after the cooler as well. |

JHCRASH, gauge cups/mount looks good! I know you're working on them, but don't forget the holes in the back for the wires. Thanks for the tip on the tranny sender install position. How about installing/threading directly into the tranny? Any ideas? BTW, I'm working on a modular mount for gauge cups too. You'll be able to add as many cups to the mount as you want. I figure up to 8, maybe 12. Needs to fit on the Liberty and a PSD Superduty. I'll post pic when finished. Seems just not enough hours in the day. Next challenge is pre-turbo thermcouple. Still scratching my head. Waiting for someone to post up a pic. |

All the wires run inside the pod from cup to cup and will only come out of the back of one.The fitting that goes into the tranny is hard to adapt to i tried that at first and there is not alot of room there.I could not find an exact type of fittingThus the direction i chose to go. |

That's what I currently have, but I dont' like it. All my other gauges I've tapped into the dimmer switch but I can't read electrical diagrams for anything....DocB wrote: Where did you install the tranny temp sender?
I installed mine in my PML trans pan |

Thats what I usually do(dimmer wire) but the gauges I am installing tuesday dim themselves so you just need a + source |

JHCRASH, Are you going to run the boost tube in there too? If so, try not to kink it. |

Ya I am the boost will be the top one so the tube can go straight in no kinks. |
