68K on the CRD and the brake pads are wearing thin. I see that some on this forum are putting on slotted rotors. What's the advantage of new slotted rotors vs resurfacing the stock rotors? Also, what pads have people had luck with and should I go with ceramic or semi-metallic?

I think the OEM's are ceramic are they not? I do not like the gronning noise they sometimes make but I do like the fact that they do not get that ugly rust colored powder all over the wheels. The slotted and drilled rotors are expensive but look nice and it would improve braking tremendously on this heavy jeep.

If you're going with upgraded rotors, go with slotting but skip the crossdrilling. Slotting provides an exit path for hot gas under heavy braking. They also help the pads wipe the rotor dry when braking in heavy rain. Cross-drilling, when done on the cheap, impacts the structural strength of the rotor. Good cross-drilled rotors (like the ones on a Porsche) will have the holes cast into them. Most aftermarket cross-drilled rotors are just drilled out normally-cast rotors, which can lead to stress points and fractures.
