Post subject:  The KJ is gone

I just wanted to thank everyone in here for their support while I was going through my Lemon Law problems. I wished I never had the problems with my CRD as I wanted a tow vehicle for my Wrangler and a DD in something that would run forever. I'll continue to defend the KJ as a pretty capable little vehicle offroad. I hope everyone else's CRD runs a million plus trouble free miles. Best of luck to everyone in the future and thanks again for all the help, tips, and tricks along the way. You all are good people. If anyone is looking for floor mats or a Fumoto Drain Valve, I have them for sale.

I replaced the CRD with a Ford Focus. It's a 5 speed, and it's peppy while getting about 34 mpg. I'm happy so far.

I think this is the direction I'm headed towards also (more fuel efficient I mean). I'll keep my Libby around for maybe a year longer and see what develops in the diesel market.

If not a diesel, the Mazda3 intrigues me.

Your garage probably looks hilarious....a 6.5" lifted Rubi on 35s and a tiny little focus next to it!!

Glad to hear you got all the problems fixed with the lemon law deal...I remember you saying you were having some trouble with all of that.

I'll get em backed in together and take a pic here soon. They do look rather funny together. My wife is however very happy to be driving the big Jeep again. She says that noone cuts her off anymore. With the size of the stinger and the front bumper being 2x4 angle iron, I wouldn't cut that thing off either.

Here are my two vehicles side by side as mentioned above. The wife drives the Unlimited and I have the Focus. You can definitely see the difference.

you should have gotten a kk...

My wife seen a kk and like the looks of it. If it had a diesel in it I would buy it.

What is a KK? Is that the new Liberty? When my wife finishes school and gets a much better paying job, the next SUV we buy will most likely be a Toyota 4-Runner with the V8. That is unless some more diesels come out and are proven with limited to no problems by the time we are ready again in a few years. It will have to be a tow rig for the LJ and family wagon.

Well, I'm glad I got rid of my CRD when I did. The diesel price went way up and the dealership I traded into isn't to happy right now. When I traded it in they know the service history behind it, I hid nothing. I took the car in today for the first oil change and wandered over to the used lot to look and see if they still had my CRD. I asked a used salesman how much they got for it since I didn't see it out there. He said that they havn't sold it yet even though it's been about a month. I asked where it was. He informed me that it was flatbedded out for service. After sitting for about a week or two it wouldn't start. I told him they should have tried priming it and they restarting. He said none of their guys had any idea how to work on it, I chuckeld and said that I don't think that many of the Jeep dealers did either. It really is a darn shame though. Ohh well, I figured I'd post an update. If I ever find out what it sold for, I'll let you all know.

Yup, I'd guess 70% of Jeep dealers out there don't even know what they're looking at when one of their own diesels roll in. If/when I buy another diesel, after purchase product support is going to be a big factor in my decision making process.

Glad you got it all straightened out and are happy with the deal now. My attorney tells me that a settlement on my case has been reached. For what it is worth, I found I got a LOT better treatment, along with some solutions, by taking the CRD to the local Dodge dealer, who at least has a certified diesel mech on staff.

We'll be keeping the CRD as the problems overwhich we sued have been fixed (no thanks to the local Jeep dealer). And I will be writing my complaint to the NHTSA about the stupidity of programing that utterly kills the motor when any fuel flow restriction is sensed, rather than allowing you to proceed with reduced power. There's nothing like the thrill of trying to get out of the way of a semi, only to find that the vehicle which has been cruising at 60 suddenly cannot do even that, and requires a shut-down and restart to clear the computer.
