I plan on servicing my wife CRD next week. It is an '05 with 31500 miles, we bought it on the first of this month and have she came with no service records. Here is what I plan on doing so far, if anyone has any other suggestion's please let me know: Change the oil (5w-40 M1 Diesel Truck) and filter, I got a Purolator brand filter, do you think that I should get a better grade filter? Replace the Air filter Replace the oil in the differentials Boost pressure solenoid filter Check the heater element plug, did it on the first, looked great Change the fuel filter, when I do this do I open the valve and prime till fuel comes out? Clean the MAP sensor Thanks Robert |

Replace the Air filter I like the new AMSOIL air filter Change the fuel filter, when I do this do I open the valve and prime till fuel comes out? Pump gently until firm, open bleeder and pump down to release air, tighten bleeder, release pump and pump until firm with bleeder closed, open bleeder and pumpdown to release air, tighten bleeder. Repeat until no more air. |

Purolator filters are actually one of the better brand names. If you don't want to go the re-usable air filter route (like the Amsoil), the Purolator or Wix are good paper filters (more pleats than OEM, breath better than OEM.) Lot of folks are using Shell Rotella 5w40 diesel oil (available at Wall Mart). Cheaper than Mobil 1, and the lab results for it look good. For that rear differential oil change, consider getting a Lube Locker re-usable gasket (someone on the board here first suggested it a while back). MUCH easier than trying to get RTV compound to sit and seal properly. |

Just an fyi, I changed my fuel filter over the weekend, I don't know how big the monster was that put the thing on there but it was bloody tight. I thought I was going to break the dog gon thing getting it off. Make no mistake it does not need to be that tight. |

I found the ws. Is there a picture diagram of how to service it, get the water out? In the manual it says to do it, but no step by step instructions with a diagram. Does it exist? I have only had my crd for 3 months, and I am trying to figure out how to do all this stuff. Thanks. |

I have only had my crd for 3 months, and I am trying to figure out how to do all this stuff. Thanks. The sensor plug just clips on the bottom of the filter can (no pictures, but it was pretty obvious, I think). The plastic part that it clips onto is actually threaded into the bottom of the filter. I believe that's the sensor itself. Put a bowl underneath to catch the contents then simply unscrew that little piece to allow the whole filter cavity to drain, water, diesel, everything. Once drained, re-assemble and re-prime. Dan |

Thanks for the info. It does seem a lot like the one on my boat. How do I reprime? |
