Hi i've got a kj 2004 2.8 crd auto. I have around 30.000 miles on the clock. Am i at the kind of mileage were i need to be changing the gearbox oil ,front and rear tranny oil and axles? I've heard there are various transmissions how do i know which one is fitted to my kj?.And do i have lsd's in which case is an additive needed? And if im about due for the changes can anyone tell me correct amounts and types of fluids gaskets and filters ifneeded for, Gearbox front diff rear diff axles Ive never owned a four wheel drive vehicle before or an auto hence the need for the info, i want to make sure i treat my expensive transmission with the care it reqs. Would i be better purchasing the fluids from stealership to make sure the quality grades are correct?Sorry for so many questions thankyou for any replies guiding me to transmission harmony. |

ALL US Spec CRDs (2005-2006) have the 545RFE Automatic...your owners manual will give you all the "fluids" info that you need. As for a 2004 2.8L CRD...I don't know. It is not US Spec and might be the older designed 2.8L CRD Engine. |

I think Jeep over does the fluid changes. They say 15k for differentials? Maybe 50k but most people never change in 100k and don't have issues. Transmission should be every 50k in my opinion but not sure what the owners manual suggest . They had mine apart so many times all the transmission fluids are nice and fresh. If you do a lot of towing or driving through water the aggressive schedule in the owners manual isn't out of line. |
