So there were rumors...then rumors of rumors. Then I didn't hear anything. How about it, Old Navy...any news on whether this is available or not?

The target date for testing to start on three members CRD's here is May 27, and first special order held for members here about first of July. Most likely it will be a GB in the range of 20 units, but that has not been decided as yet as far as I know. Hey I am foaming at the mouth just like you guys.

Thanks for the update. And keep me in mind as a Beta tester if need be. ;)

My better half uploaded some pictures and we posted at edmunds Post #5716. Everybody here knows all this already and oldnavy has had my ccv request for some time now. But when I took my hose off to check the intake throttle valve(which is working), oil dripped out and both intercooler hoses wet and sticky goo everywhere. Should've provented back in Feb '05 when we bought it - this is sickening.

I've had the throttle control on my CRD replaced twice within 3728 miles. The last time it was replaced was during a TSB upgrade of the TCM & ECU. I'm now just a little over 4100 miles and out of couriosity I pulled the intercooler hoses (outlet side) to the throttle control valve. The hoses were fairly clean with only stripes of oil and that was dry. However the the throttle body was coated with a thick black oil. This was at the inside of the hose connection and I can only imagine what was further inside. I wiped out what I could and reassembled. Putting it all back together I can see how some people has had hoses blowing off with the placement of the style hose clamp getting it firmly in place with that hump being right where the throttle body actuator electrical connection attaches. This oil accumulation has occured in less than 400 miles if they actually had replaced this valve. After all was reassemble I test ran the engine and pulled the hose from the CCV to visually see this blow by. That didn't seem to be that bad but you could feel the crankcase pressure when you put your finger near the discharge side of the CCV. For the 1200 miles since I changed oil I have been using Shell Rotella 5W-40 synthetic. I've been holding out on the installation of a Provent waiting for the Old Navy unit minimizing my driving of it. From what I saw installation of an effective CCV is a must. I will be ordering the Old Navy if all works out as designed. The provent has an issue of space but if thats what it takes thats what I'll but one of those is going to be installed.

I just got my CRD less than a month ago....wanted to avoid this altogether. Do what I did and unplug the hose from the CCV, plug it, and run a 4' piece of heater hose from the CCV to down under the engine. There will be no way for oil to get in the intake that way. You might see a puff of smoke every now and then at a stoplight...and yes you will be releasing a bit more pollution... I'm using this as a temporary fix until the Oldnavy unit comes along or until I can figure something else out.

Indy,
Thanks for your suggestion. You say plug the hose comming off the ccv. Wouldn't this create a vacuum at the turbo charger. This would be the same as a plugged CCV/Provent. By running this heater hose under the vehicle are you seeing any oil drips in your drive way. I may be wrong but I am concerned with plugging that hose that was once attached to the ccv. Explain if may concerns are unwarranted.

You pull the hose off the OEM CCV and plug it, then run a hose from the OEM CCV to beneath the engine and let her drip.

The way I understand it, there is a slight vacuum coming from the hose...this is what sucks the fumes into the intake. By plugging it, you are not going damage anything. It's just going to suck more fresh air through the filter box.

I noticed oil dripping from the hose within a day or two.....that's through 4 ft. of hose, so you know there is quite a bit of oil coming out of the CCV.

I though I only needed about 3 ft of hose, I guess I was thinking VW instead of Jeep. I haven't plumbed it yet, but will this weekend because I have a road trip coming up the 26th to MI.

It might be closer to 3 ft. I bought 5 ft at the auto store and then cut some off....there may have been about 2 ft left.

I knew there was some vacuum at that point and wanted to make sure nothing would be effected ie turbo shaft seals. I spoke with our service dept and all agreed that plugging that tube would not be an issue. The issue would be if you didn't plug the hose. What size id hose did you use so I can pick some up today on may way home or we probably have it here in the shop?.
Thanks

That's cool. I hope to have the test CCV by the time I head to the MI diesel GTG, as it would be excellent test run of 1400 miles in about 60 hr period. I have told them this and hope they can make my deadline for the trip.

3/4 inch PVC plug cost less the $.50 at the hardware store.

Just heard from mfg, they are shipping the CCV via Fedex overnite so I will have in time to do the road test with he trip to MI GTG. That will be about 1400 miles plus for a 3 day weekend, we should be able to see the proof of the works by time I back.

Once installed (and perhaps before the MI event...), do you think you could post some pictures? I'm sure I'm not the only one salivating over the thought of finally having a product available...
