What is the largest size tire I can fit under the CRD without a lift? I am looking at Firestone Destination a/t 235-70 16. Could I go bigger?

I don't know the answer, but I do remember seeing this question asked and answered many times. Try doing a search and you should find your answer. I am not trying to be sarcastic, only to help you find your answer quickly.

I has 235/70r16 michelins on my CRD before I lifted it. They worked fine with no rubbing.
(I actually still have the tires with 8000 miles onthem if you're interested...)

garver72,

I just put P245/70R16 Firestone Destination A/T's on my vehicle. They fit just fine. I think some people have put on P235/75R16 as well, but that's a pretty tall tire, and is pushing the limits as to what will fit. I think you'd be happy with the P235/70R16, since it's basically the same as a P225/75R16 (actually, a few millimeters shorter), but it is a wider tire than the P225/75R16. I wanted a taller/wider tire, so I went with the P245/70R16.

Both P225/75R16 and P235/70R16 are stock 16" fitments for the KJ. I ran P235/70R16 Firestone Destination A/Ts up until just recently, and they are a nice all-around tire. Be sure to rotate them to keep them quiet and happy.

235/75/16 ATs will fit (29.84" vs 29.2" Stock). The good part is you can add the OME CRD lift later and the 235/75/16s will still look good.

This is the way a KJ should look STOCK!

My wife and I just installed 245/70/16 106H Kumho 798 and they fit fine with no issues. There were 225/75/16 106H Kumho 798 on it. The issue I have is that the 225 are 29lbs and the 245 are 31lbs each. The 245 handle much better at 120 mph than the 225. It does not wonder on the highway as much either. Ride seems better as well. I also have them at 40PS/2.8bar

245/75/16 fit with only minor rubbing. some 245/75/16 will fit without rubbbing at all.

If you ever intend to use snow tires or the like, go with 245/70/16. Much more common tire size, and due to anti-lock brakes and traction control on modern vehicles, you want the spare tire to be the same size as your others.

What about wheel spacers? I really would like to push the OEM wheels out 1" for more stability.
