Hey guys, I just tried to change my engine oil and install my new fumoto valve. The bolt in the oil pan doesnt move though. I can twist it but it never comes out. So Im thinking that the last idiot that changed the oil on it messed it up. What should I do now? I remember other people on here talking about this, but I dont remember what they did to fix it. |

When Jiffy Lube stripped my plug AND pan, they paid the dealer to re-tap the pan and put a bigger plug in. It's expensive to have the pan replaced. |

I feel your pain, the dealer stripped mine out then had nerve enough to charge me the $100 deductible on the extended warranty. As other have stated the options are to replace the pan, or see if it can be re tapped. I would go after the monkey who over tightened and try to get them to pay. I was told helocoils may not be the answer as they can leak later on. |

This just happened to mine. I drilled and taped the pan to 3/4" NF bolt thread. Then I bored out a bolt to accept a 12mm drain plug. I also cross drilled the threaded portion of the bolt at so that all the oil would drain and I could still get full thread engagement. I then cleaned and lock-tited the bolt to the pan and just use the 12mm drain plug for oil changes. |

You should be able to do the 18mm X 1.5 or the 3/4" X 16 UNF, I would stay away from anything larger or the pipe sizes |

I had a box of them for use on VW Air Cooled Cylinder Heads, they worked under allot more pressure than the head pressure on an oil pan plug. Steve |
