Yes manifolds and other automotive hang on items are not interchangeable, but the guts are, I hope.

Any body know if the block and head are the same? Pistons, sleeves, rings, and valves are items that wear out over time. I am sure they source these items from suppliers and if they interchange, we will be able to get them.

Cummins Marine sells VM too: http://www.cmdmarine.com/ftp/engines.html

Dorking around a while ago I found http://www.motorenteile.mahle.com/eLIZA/app/queryVehicle?cocoon-xmlform-view=QueryVehicleCriteriaView&%2Fcriteria%2Fmanufacturer%2Fvalue=JEEP+-%3E+CHRYSLER&%2Fcriteria%2FproductionPeriod%2FminMonth=&%2Fcriteria%2FproductionPeriod%2FminYear=&%2Fcriteria%2Fname%2Fvalue=&%2Fcriteria%2FproductionPeriod%2FmaxMonth=&%2Fcriteria%2FproductionPeriod%2FmaxYear=&%2Fcriteria%2Ftype%2Fvalue=&cocoon-action-8c2c4f852f7b511a7c7b28204d416e5a68352c2c%3AQueryVehicleCriteriaView%3AexecQueryVehicle=Start+Search

but it made my head hurt, couldn't really figue it all out. Mahle makes a lot of aftermarket Diesel stuff in Europe.

Mahle makes piston, piston rings, bearing inserts and lot of engine parts for OEM and Aftermarket. A lot of the US parts importers will buy direct from Mahle and sell either with their own name or with the Mahle name.
FYI: If you want to market your own brand of CRD replacement engine parts and lets say you want to call them, "GOTH", Mahle and other parts manufactures will be happy to box them any way you want if you have the money.

My old Farmall BN has wet sleeves and Case/IH no longer makes them, but they will have some other company produce them and sell them to me if I am willing to pay for them.

Since Detroit and Cummins sell VM marine engines that have the same guts as ours, I will bet NAPA and others will sell them as well.
