Who makes the best remote start for our diesels. I would like one that also gave me a cool down timer. Any suggestions? Thx Anyone else really have a tough time with searches on here? I wish i could just search titles so it would'nt pull up almost every post ever made. |

I've seen the Astrostarts in person and i gotta say they are really cool. It has a little lcd display on the key fob that tells you if your lights are on and if the engine is running, etc. You might start there. Pretty much all the remote starters i've seen have a delay timer for glowplug warmup. What you might want to look for is a turbo cooldown timer. |

I used to own a company selling and installing remote starts and keyless entry. Let me know if you need help, as I can provide you the wire info for hookups. I have a Trilogix Datastart in mine, but there are several good brands. Also, be aware that the remote start does need to bypass the sentry key. The door locks use a single wire with resistance - or you can interface with the databus. Interfacing with the databus gives you the opportunity to control almost every function in the Jeep, from locking the doors to detecting door/hatch openings to rolling the windows up and down. This option can make your install much less painless. |

My opinion exactly. For the $300+ it cost you could buy a nice aftermarket unit with many more features. |

No only does the factory remote started lcak options, but it also lacks range. Most aftermarket remotes will ahve a range of 1/4 mile or better. Many have 2-way transmitters that show the status of the vehicle, and page the key fob to report any changes in status or break in attempts. DEI is a great company and makes many of the top lines of remotes including Viper, Clifford, and AviStart. Plan to pay top dollar. The Astrostart previously mentioned is a decent unit. Stay away from the CommandStart and BullDog units found at your local box store. They are a lower end unit, and are much harder to install due to the lack of on board relays. Again - if anyone wants detailed info, send me a PM. I have personally installed several hundred remote starters, alarms, and keyless entry systems. |

Got the AutoPage on ours....works good a few quirks still to work out, but I would reccomend it. Highly programable, but that is where some of the quirks come in.... |

I have the DEI Viper. It works fine and is the only way I would ever have the patience for the turbo cool down. I have to press a couple keys on the key fob before turning off the Jeep, then it will run for 3 minutes. The remote start is set for a ten second delay. While it never needs 10 seconds for the glow plugs, when it is -5 degrees it does not hurt. |

I second DEI, the only one sold at the shop. We turn away any other brand. |

I believe that they just set it up with the 10 second delay in the programming. Since our glow plugs are never on that long, it is no problem. |
