I'm considering an aftermarket TC for my CRD - mostly read about the Suncoast product at this point. Just a couple of questions:

1. Are there other competing options I should be considering?

2. What are your experiences and/or recommendations with aftermarket TCs on the CRD?

Thanks for your input!

1. ATS makes one, twice the money and it is way overbuilt. I was considering this one before the Suncoast.

2. Get a local shop to make one?

That is all I know. I have the Suncoast.

I think the Suncoast is the best bang for your buck. My local transmission shop had a local guy who built great converters for diesel drag trucks, but he recommended the Suncoast as the R&D for the design was already done. Ron at Suncoast tried a couple of designs before he found one he was happy with. If you had a shop roll their own, would they get it as good on the first try?

Thanks Chris,

This is the type of information that I need. I hope to have enough information in the coming week to go ahead and make the purchase. I'm surprized that other Suncoast buyers haven't been chimming in as you have. I hope to hear from a few others. I will be PM'ing some specific ones who have been vocal.

Again, thanks!
Shawn

Shawn,

The Suncoast TC has been treating me well. That plus the TransGo shift kit and new Mopar tranny pump made a significant improvement to the operation smoothness and shifting of my Jeep. The TC goes right into lock-up, nice and firm.

I had the InMotion tune for about a month before i had the tranny upgraded. It was apparent that the TC wasn't going to last long with the additional power.

Nice, its Friday!

Chris
