Has anyone actually gotten their CRD registered in Calif. yet? If you have, what kind of obstacles did you run into with the state?

I am starting to see used ones show up on Cars.com. so maybe I can finally get one.

Used is the only way, not even military memers can register a CRD in Kalifornia (it would be interesting to challenge the CARB regs on a Soldiers and sailors relief act lawsuit). Part of the reason I chose not to return to Kali afer many years overseas was their silly laws

I am about to register mine. I decided I couldn't wait for a used one so I'm doing the family xfer thing.

Mother-in-law bought the CRD in Oklahoma, tagged and insured it in her name. Wife and I have been driving it in Cali w/ OK plates on it since October. We finally hit 7,500 miles (anything less and the vehicle is considered "new") and we paid the note off a couple weeks ago.

So now we're just waiting for the lein release to come from Chrysler Finance and we'll do the title xfer out here in Cali.

For us, the family transfer aspect was key as this way we can avoid having to pay sales tax twice (since we paid in OK when it was purchased).

But if you're buying it used from someone else just make sure it has over 7,500 miles on it and you're golden.
