Post subject:  Inmotion tune up -> shuders -> lift pump or TC ?

So, I did the inmotion tuneup recently.

First, is well worth its money.... just ask the guy with the m5 this morning. (he wasn't happy)
Customer service from the inmotion guys is great and the flash just takes a few minutes.

It does require some learning to take the full advantage out of it, if u had the f37 done. Because you ll have to wait till the tranny shifts to the right place in the power band to really get on it and make it go like a bat out of hell. After the TC locks, it just goes :)

My question, under heavy accel now i get shudders like if i was running on top of a rumble strips. I couldn`t get it to shudder before the tune even if i tried really hard (WOT wasn`t unusual before the tune).

My truck had the F37 by the PO (dont know if they did the tc, flash and pump or just flash).

BlackLibertyCRD mentioned his truck had the shudders when he installed his predator chip and that a lift pump took care of it.

So, TC or liftpump ?

btw, installed a new filter 1k miles ago and bled all air out and re-bled before doing the Inmotion tune.

Thanks !

Just for documentation or fyi:

Using scangaugeII :

While ouitside temp 60F
- NO orm intake temp 160-180 F
- ORM intake temp 80-90
-NO orm + inmotion temp 130-140

WOOT - 36 psi max, after Inmotion , same. (this is with Scangauge II reading out of the map for max psi displayed (subtract 14.8 for ambient psi))

Fuel millage change - TBD

ORM + segr absolutely required even with the tune. This tune will make you smile.

Did you send your ECM in or do the OBD tune?

The air in fuel shudder is right after letting off the pedal after brisk to hard acceleration  Dollar wise I would put the cummins intank module in before the Inmotion tune. Throwing in some kind of free flowing muffler would help too :D

Post subject:  TC or Lift Pump

From my experience, I'd say that the shudder is from both the weak TC and the lack of a lift pump.

I Had the InMotion tune performed pre-Suncoast and boy did it make the stock TC cry and complain. I'd never experienced the infamous shudder pre-InMotion but there was no question about what it was when it happened. After the Suncoast/Shift Kit/Tranny Pump upgrade the shudder seamed to disappear. I was love'n it for a month or two when while climbing a moderate hill heading into Portland, in O/D @ 60 mph i again felt the shudder! I was a little surprised, but noted that it felt different this time and didn't occur at a shift point but instead at 3/4 throttle (or for you SGII guys around LoD 85, GPH 8+ and RPM of 1800+).

From then on, i was able to pretty much get my jeep to shudder with any low RPM and heavy peddle combo up until i replaced my fuel filter. Changing the fuel filter solved most of my shudder occurrences and sold me on the need for a lift pump. So now I'm waiting for my Cummins in-tank lift pump to arrive and my fuel light to come on.....

Hope my input helps,

Chris

My shuder happens as you step on the gas and the truck accelerates.

Did they just send you a file to upload or were you able to pick and choose what was updated?

You ll have to talk to them about personalizing your file, i have no clue if its doable or not.
I went with the simple solution.

They send you the odb2 reader, you read your ecu, e-mail the file to them. Really promptly, they e-mail you a file back. You write this file in the ecu and mail the odb2 reader back to them.

I did not asked about personal configs for the truck, i just took the standard stage 2 they offer. (wich works nice, btw)

some pointers:

-When you send them the file, zip it. This will prevent mail servers / spam software to *&^^&* with it.
-if your flash fails, you have a backup to restore (the file that you sent them). So don`t panic, just calmly restore the backup into your ecu and you are stock again. (keep BOTH files, you might need them someday)
- call them, they are really helpfull if you have questions.

Drove it some more, getting worst, i can get it to shudder doing 50 mph and giving it 3/4 throttle.

:)

Do you have your scan guage connected :?: If so try it without. There have been some problems, not yours, connected to the SG. But unless it's still under warranty I think you'll be talking to SunCoast soon :?

Installed a lift pump,
Posi-flo 610-1050 4 to 7 psi and 32 gph

is definitely pressurizing the system becouse at idle, i can open the bleeder and get diesel out. (no notice on engine noise/idle change)

is it safe to have it runing all the time the engine is runing ? i noticed some lift pumps were installed to work for priming

May be is my imagination or i m just going nuts, but the truck does feel more responsive and takes off nicer with the lift pump.

Shutter didn't go away, so im getting a new tc.

I tried to read, i promise, but there is so much material that confuses me more.

the f-37 flash prevents the tc from shuttering, t

Is it becouse it is broke inside or becouse it slips inside and wont lock completely when loaded?

broke?, before the inmotion upgrade, this would never happen, but when added power, it starts to shutter instantly.
And if i dont step on it, works normally (no shutter)..
So the TC is constantly broken and the f-37 takes power away preventing it to slip or shutter .? it is not strong enough to lock completely ?

OR

something inside permanently broke and is coming apart ?

are there pieces of the tc now floating around my transmission ?

If i have the shutter symptoms, how long can i expect this tc before it gives up on me? will it just stop working and let me stranded?

thanks for your patience !

I just noticed your mileage is low. Can the 7/70 power train warranty be transfered to you :?:

The warranty does cover me. They already replaced the turbo solenoid for me.

But if i take it to the dealer, they will flash the f-37 on top of the inmotion and the problem will go away.
Then i ll reflash the inmotion again and the problem will come back and so on.

I think at this point is better to replace the tc with the suncoast and try to avoid the dealer 100% (even if it hurts my pocket)

No one has told me different, but i don't think the tc is broke... in my computer guy opinion, just the clutch when the tc locks can`t handle the power and slips or something. (btw i m a computer guy for a living, just home mechanic so i m probably WAY wrong.)

thanks for looking tho !
