Post subject:  Fuel gauge woes

I went to the fuel station yesterday to fill up the tank. I was two marks below 1/4 tank. I swiped my card and let the diesel flow. The pump stopped at $50 which is annoying because I only pumped just over 11 gal. Grabbed another card to finish off the tank and could not get more than .2 gal before the handle clicked off. At this point I pumped just over 12 gal (between 2 attempts). So I figured, well, I guess there was still like 7-8 gallons in the tank.

The problem is, although I cannot get anymore diesel into the tank, the gauge only reads one mark over 3/4. It's never behaved like this before, any ideas?

Post subject:  suggestions

in the where's your lift pump thread I put a little piece which is an extract from the kj crd manual referring to fuel sender and how it works. somewhere around page 27. It might help you fault find.

Not sure about what the problem is for you,
1) is your battery voltage correct?
2) wonder if your float at the sender (in tank) is not floating properly

Im sure someone will have a few more suggestions.

Post subject:  Just Did the lift Pump

I knew that old unit should not have been thrown away.
That old unit was rather flimsy, like the new one I thought and could see how it would screw up.
I would check electrical connections first then run the tank down low and drop 'er, get a peek.
Mostly quick connects, nuts and electrical tape.
If you were as lazy as me you would get used to it the way it is.
Done the gmctd lift pump yet?
Now could be a good time.

Did you fill it while it was running? My gauge takes a while to catch up if I don't shut it off when refueling. It does catch up.

Seems to have fixed itself on the next fill up.
