Well everyone I traded in my CRD yesterday for a new 08 Liberty. It was a fun vehicle while I owned it and will miss the novelty of owning a vehicle which not many people own. It was a great conversation vehicle and will miss it.
Considering the price of deisel today the dealer gave me an excellent trade deal, better than I would have ever expected for the new Liberty. The price of deisel went to 4.42 a gallon and I have had enough. Winter fuel mileage in NH was 18 and summer 20.5 not enough. I will miss the people on this forum and their expertise, I learned a lot here. I will pop in now to say hello and will be over to the KK forum. If anyone is interested I have 9 mopar oil filters for the CRD I am looking to sell if anyone is interested, just e-mail me. Thanks everyone

Here the price difference diff is ~19% and the mpg diff of my 2006 CRD vs my 2002 KJ is ~38% so I am still happy...but...if you got the $2.99 per gallon guarantee, the diff is 0% at todays prices.

Of course the $2.99 is limited on miles (12,000 I think ) and does not last forever...but for now it is not that bad a deal. I would never get rid of mine...added a scooter to my arsenal at 72mpg to fight high fuel costs.

Just for everyones info...what did you get as a trade in value?

Too late to help you now, but at 20.5 mpg highway you likely had some significant MAP fouling problems and maybe an over-active EGR and dragging brakes.

Good luck with the new Jeep! I just saw diesel here at $4.59 this morning (new all-time high). Regular unleaded at 3.99. My CRD is getting 20-21 mpg city, 28ish highway, so I'm still kinda happy.

Exactly. Surprisingly, most people don't look at it that only, only from a price perspective.

I did look and compaired the prices of gas v diesel, per mileage but again I got a real sweet deal. My vehicle needed a rear bumper, I backed into something when it was real cold out. It needed brakes and tires and I still got a lot for it. I have to say I do like the way the new KK drives and it is way more comfortable and more roomy inside. Anyway it is gone I will miss the vehicle it was a novelty for me.
