Just got 24 mpg combined city/ highway. I tried to keep it under 2500 RPM on takeoffs, and it seems to of made a real difference. My previous best was around 22 mpg----Very happy.

Have you done any modifications?

My worst tank so far was 18 mpg. Tried to blow the crap out, was Mario Diesel Liberty.
Best to date is 29mpg, full to neck every fill up, record mileage, calculate by gallons added.
Many mods, not all smart, most good. Lots of experimentation. I could do it cheaper again.
I still believe there is room for improvement. No going over 2,000 rpm for one.
But I love to wind it out and feel the gears so not all tanks could give me that.

Have you cleaned your MAP lately? Fuel Additives, SEGR, CCV, A/C always on, Tire pressure, Alignment, Tire size, T/C mod, shift kit, Neutral at lights, Air filter clean, Brakes dragging, gear lube, muffler mod, fuel lift or air in fuel filter, oil weight?

Those are the top of my head.
Spent a lot of time reading the CRD Tech, Search (really good) and reading the opinions of others.

Only mod is ORM. I didn't clean the MAP at the last oil change so im sure it needs it. Everything else is stock. With the odometer error I was probably closer to 25 mpg.

I run Rotella 5-30, tires @ 35 psi. I don't do anything else special.

Remember inflate the tires to 40 PSI and do the ORM or SEGR.

Correct for odometer error, mine reading needs to be multiplied by 110% to correct the error.

Home-Midway Airport-Home 26MPG.

How did you calibrate the odometer? We used the GPS and knew they were different but who to trust?

My tires are 8 ply load range D and the dealer recommended 50 lbs so go by the side wall of the tire.

The ORM or SEGR is essential too.

Best mpg with the libby is 27 on a country-road trip at 55mph nearly constant. Flat terrain.

Best mpg with the fabia is 52 with lots of mixed driving, and driving with trailer as well...by its trip computer I got 57.5mpg during a night ride at nearly constant speed :)

Yeah well that's one positive side of the fabia. The really positive side about the libby was that I was in a small wood planted and owned by my girlfriends family where I had cut down a dead pine tree 200 yards into the forest. I tried with the skoda, but I heard some pretty nasty rubbing of the underbody, so I left the trailer 30 yards inside and drove out. The libby would've been perfect to go all the way in there with the trailer, chunk it full of wood, and drive the trailer out again.

We had to use a wheelbarrow and three guys to pull/push/yell the trailer out in two heats, and it wasn't even full at the time. Man I missed my jeep at that point!

I took a road trip this weekend from Denver to Grand Junction. I've been previously disappointed with the CRD mileage, but now I'm convinced it's been winter fuel since I've only had the Jeep for 8 months. I got

27 mpg with 80% biodiesel, cruising 70-75 mph with a bicycle on top. 8)

Odometer is the stock factory setting, with others reporting the same error with stock tires, I just use a calculator to correct.
If you have a cheap trick to fix it, Post it for us to see.

Well, like everyone, I have been trying to save fuel lately. I have kept it below 2500 RPM on most starts. I still cruise on the highway around 70 MPH. I just take a bit longer to get going that fast. When this current tank got down to half a tank the odo showed 290 miles. It is off 10%, so figure 319 or so miles on "chrysler's" half a tank. Will be interesting to see what the mileage is when I fill up. If it gets to 265 at half I usually get around 25-27 MPG. So this should be pretty good.

1/4 of this tank was stop and go rush hour/city traffic and the other 3/4 was city highway and main roads. One of the days included a monsoon type storm that blew through and I had to drive 50 miles on the highway into a 30-45 mph headwind, I did slow down to around 65 that one day. Not too shabby....

:)

How are you guys figuring a 10% error on the speedo? According to my Garmin GPS the speedo is accurate.

Anyways, 14mpg worst (don't recall why)
Just over 30 as my best by far.

Yep, On recirc. Fan on 3 or 4, temp most of the way to cold to all of the way to cold. While it does get cool, it never really gets "cold" of course, with it being 112+ on the road most days.

There has been a whole thread about that. Two GPS's, mile marker signs, and the other vehicle driven the same route. Those all agree, that the CRD is 10% off. Many nonlifted folks say they are off 4%. I never checked before the lift. Post lift and 245/75/16 tires-- the speedo is now correct instead of reading over and the odo is off 10%+ (it is actually over 10, but I round down because I don't want to do math with 10.76 or something). I would rather have the speedo accurate anyway.

32.7 tank average - hand calculated. Still had a couple days of more city driving than usual due to construction that has just wrapped up. Without factoring in any other driving my 105 mile per day work commute should be about 33-34 mpg. I still have a couple of more tweeks to try. My goal is to get an average tank of 35 mpg driving only to an from work.
