| Post subject: | driveline vibration |
Does anybody experience a vibration in the driveline from 65mph to 75mph? I have had the dealer look at it and they replaced a u-joint and called it fixed, still does it. I checked the angles of the rear driveshaft and they have an angle of 6 degrees ( Iv'e heard that 3 is ideal ) I shimmed the transmission mount down a 1/4 inch, but it did not make a difference. Does anybody have a suggestion? |

I would consider bringing it back to the dealer after you have checked the wheels for balance. |

I have the same vibration and it seems to have started when I got new tires (yes, the revos do it and the crapyears didn't...). I have to suspect the tire installers who even after being told to use adhesive weights still used clamp-on....but on the inside so I "couldn't see them". Next rotation, I'm going to have all of them re-balanced at a more reputable location in the chain. I'll have them re-do it every 1000 miles until they get it right. Dan |

Hi Larry, My 06 Lib CRD began vibrating on deceleration after new tires at 40,000miles. After 3 days of trial and error a U joint began to squeek. We were on a business trip in FL so we took it to a local Jeep dealer and Chrysler overnighted a whole new rear drive shaft to them. Problem solved and "no charge"!!! (they said the drive shaft is not rebuildable so they replace the whole thing)??? Dean |

I hope that you have checked the front shaft too. It spins all the time at the same speed as the rear shaft. |

I had a similar problem with an 03 gasser, but it was more of a drown, but it was felt thru the entire vehicle, it did it at 60 mph and up and did not go away. I bought the libby with 28,000 miles and it was still under warranty thats why it did not bother me to buy it with this condition. First I thought it was tires so I replaced all four with new GYr. Still had the problem brought it to the dealer and they said it was the tires so they took 4 wheels with tires of a new libby put them on mine but it stii had the problem. They then swapped out a new driveshaft, still same problem. They then rebuilt the rear end new bearings seals, same problem. I was told that they had no idea what the problem was and they were not goin to throw any more money into it and that I should contact Chrysler, which I did but got sick of chasing people down,Thats there way of getting rid of you, they gamble with the fact that eventually you will give up! I had way to many other things going on to have it focuss on fighting with Chrysler. At that time in april of 07 gas went way up and diesel stayed low,so I made the descision to buy a diesel libby and purchased one down in Florida with 26,000 miles. So I soldmy gasser back to the stealer that sold it to me 9 months ealier for 2 grand less. The 05 has no drivability problems. Hope this helps you. Gregg |

Just as an idea, try taking off the front drive shaft. You don't need it for just driving around in 2WD. If you still have the vibration, it's in the rear end someplace. If it goes away, then you know it's up front somewhere. |
