| Post subject: | Power windows. |
I also posted this in general discussion but thought I would post it here as well. I've done a search but didn't find anything directly having to do with the power windows on Libertys. The question. Is there something that can be done for the NEVER ENDING power window failures my wife is having with her Liberty? All but the passenger side front window has gone out and now the driver side rear window has gone out again Any help to this question will be GREATLY appreciated. By the way, it's a 2006 CRD Ken.... |

The search function should explode with posts on this subject. The window regulators are the German's contribution to the Jeep. They fail constantly in VW, MB, BMW and Audi as well and have for years. I have been lucky so far. |

I've replaced the 2 rear ones on mine, and I only have 18,000 miles. Dave |

I have had 4 window failures in 2 years, not counting the last one that the service guys "could not duplicate". Mine seem to start with the window rocking forward while going up, so when it started rocking and shimmying on its way up, I headed back to the dealer. (Unfortunately, I had reached my limit with the service department a few weeks earlier when I was greeted with "what's your problem now" snarled at me when I arrived, so I sent a three page letter to the owner of the dealership detailing 2 years of bad service.) I'm now apparently listed as the antichrist in their system and they insisted that the rocking window and the shimmying was not an indication of a problem and that sort of motion (even though none of the other windows are acting that way at this moment) is perfectly normal. They did finally take the Libby into the service bay, but the only thing they did to it was ding the door. Grrrrrrrrrr. As these things die, are there better mechanisms to replace them with? Twice now I've had the cables snap and jam up the door mechanism so you couldn't open the door. |

I figured that it was a hopeless situation. Nothing like replacing a P.O.S. part with a like P.O.S. part Ken.... |

Do any of you that have had window problems have aftermarket tint on the windows? |

my fronts would go down crooked and studder when they were wet. The dealer could not duplicate it, but replace both regulators under warrenty because they knew how bad they were. If only they fixed my tranny... travis |

Mine started shuddering today on the way home. I cleaned the track and then wiped the track with silicon grease from Liqui Moli Part # 3312 and it seems fine now. I will do the rest of the windows this weekend. I use the saem stuff on my home weight gym for the weight slides and the pully cables. I thought about this later and I think I need to clarify, the track the window glass rides in above the door opening. This is full of dust and dirt. I cleaned all of it on the inside cavity and brushed on the silicon grease. This seems to prevent the window glass from binding while it is going up. |
