Do you mean waste vegetable oil?

You can already run biodiesel as is.

Any diesel vehicle manufactured after the late 1990's can run biodiesel with no problems. Only issue is that bio is a mild solvent, and will dissolve all the gunk that has built up in your fuel system over time from running regular diesel. That gunk will find its way into your fuel filter.

If you have never run bio before in a vehicle with 20k+ miles on it, I'd start by running a few tanks for a relatively low percentage blend (20% or less), then change my fuel filter. Should be good to go to run higher blends. This is assuming you have access to quality bio diesel that is stored properly. Poorly manufactured bio, or bio that is allowed to sit in above ground tanks for months and months, can cause problems.

Be advised, press releases touting the Liberty CRD and biodiesel aside, Chrysler will not honor warranty claims on the fuel system for blends greater than 5%. This has more to do with poor quality control on some bio sources, and automakers inherent interest in finding excuses to void warranties, than it does with the Jeep's fuel system. Mine has 25k on bio so far with no problems.

Any indication that biodiesel's solvent quality is keeping the CCV /EGR cleaner?

Best thing to do with those is the ORM/SEGR and the Provent/elephant hose modifications, regardless of what fuel you use.

It may burn slightly cleaner, resulting in less carbon in the exhaust and blow-by, but I don't know that there's any empirical evidence of that. Realistically, ULSD and Bio will both burn pretty clean but still put soot in the EGR. As for CCV, the problem is the oil in the vapor, not the contaminants. I run b20 normally and have a Provent and SEGR, so there's my testimonial :)

B100 smells better :D

We've run at least b20 up to b70 in the Libby since day one!! B100 in my PSD. NO modification to either to run Bio!

I've got 50k miles on my CRD, and have run various blends up to several tanks of b100 and haven't clogged a filter yet. I've been running bio since shortly after I got the car, at about 35k miles. I haven't even had it a year yet (October) and I've already put over 15k miles on it. I guess its a good thing I don't lease cars.

There is not controlled study of this...or much else on our Libby's. Generally BioD blends do burn slightly cleaner in studies....but strangle in some studies pure (B100) burns a bit smokey in certain, older engines with stock settings.

All that is acedemic because you really should do the ORM and Provent/EHM....which is the only way to save that cantankerous EGR.

Oh, and unplug your fuel heater.

Because they tend to overheat and burn the plug, likely getting too hot from air in filter head not cooling it.

This is another reason why I like the FASS. I would have a fuel/air separator in addition to a fuel heater and a lifetime warranty.
