Ok here 'I go

2005 f37'd libby, 27k and I believe it had a torque converter while previous owner had her.

When I start it up wait a few seconds and put into drive, or reverse, it seems like there's no fluid in converter, but if you give it some fuel, it'll move, but seem like it's slipping, or starting in third gear.

If I then shift into neutral and give some rpm's , it sometimes alleviates it.

Now last week it did this to me, and while slpping it made a a pop then it had some fluid coupling like it cought gear, then nothing.

It's very sporatic, and won't do it all the time, trans shifts fine otherwise.

Fluid level is perfect, and it's not on an incline.

Like I said I know it's had all updates, assume it's had a converter cause the splash pan and trans housing have wrence marks on them, but unshure , I'm thinkin Pump time. Any Thoughts?

They all do it. Mine has done it even on perfectly flat ground after sitting all night. I don't know if it is my imagination but it seems that it has happened after I pull in fast to the driveway and imedeatly shut it down as soon as it is in park without the normal cooldown time, but I cant replicate the event when I do that intentionaly. Maybe it gets an air bubble in the tranny circulation or something. The only thing that I know for sure is that the transmission has no lubrication pumping while in park.

On another jeep board where a dealer tech posts he has stated many times that our otherwise good transmissions have been known for air leakage. There were badly welded torque coverters, sealing problems around the front pump area to name two not to mention filters with no check valves. The seals on the original front pumps tend to leak when the torque converter is replaced. Keep after your dealer for a fix

Well I'm beginning to think it's a pump. It really just started to do this as of lately.. I allways let it cool down for a miniute or so, used to doing it with my other diesels. Some days iit'll do it time after time, and some days it's ok. Have yelled at the wife for not doing it, but now she gets the gist. I rebuild GM automatics and remember that the 700r4 suffered from sorta the same problem, the fix was a 14 vane pump.

I think I'm going to call the dealer that did the F37 to find out what exactly was replaced.

Mine's shown no tendency to do that and it's at 68kmi - 'course, it hadda new filter set with the upgraded pump and new TC @ F37 (~40kmi) Mar\Apr last year, so I would suspect the one-way valve in the cooler-return filter is in good shape - I didn't replace it in Nov with the Suncoast upgrade, but it still grabs go when the lever is notched into position.

Wellp I'm thinkin of bitchin to the stealership, but I sincerely hate takin it there. Maybe I'll have a chat with the service manager. Uggh.

Did yours do it before the suncoast and transgo?

After good advice from gmtd I had my fluid and filters changed after experiencing the same delayed engagement after sitting for six hours or more. And it seems to have solved my delayed engagement problem. Mine was due for new fluid and filters anyway as it has 26000 miles on her. Thanks gmtd!

GMCTD, I bought a Wix filter kit with both filters and swapped them out when I installed by PML pan.
I go for the simple fix before I start throwing the big money at it.

I remember seeing a post on here somewhere, tried searching, but no luck, that there we're some bad trans filters, and that there we're some new part numbers for them. I have the total 70 k warranty on the little mule, but I want to enjoy it and not have to worry bout the TC going out on me. I just might Suncoast and transgo it, but the Price is holdin me back.

I'd opt more to install the Suncoast if it had the new pump at the f37 update, if not i'll wait for the staock TC to fly the coop, then do it all

Coal Cracker,
Mine had been shifting just fine before I noticed the delay. Other wise it ran and shifted normally. So, I guess it is safe to assume (in my case anyway) that it was just the check valve in the trans filter that went bad. I was sure glad that took care of it. I did take it to the dealship first, they said there was nothing wrong with it. Well, I guess it just meant there was no check engine light on and they didn't know what to do!
