I did a quick search and didn't see it mentioned. In the August issue there is a Mopar concept Jeep, olive drab, with a VM 2.8 CRD in it. Some good shots of the engine bay; and a Dana 60 under the back end.

...and it's not a concept anymore, either. Look online for the "J8" which is the military version of the JK. There was also the "T1" which was the military version of the TJ which also had a 2.8VM in it...

If our engines are being classified as Mil-Spec.... YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!! That means that under the new One-Fuel NATO initiative, our CRDs will burn not just #2, but also JP8 and Kerosene without problems.

Granted, the military isn't looking for the huge lifespan that we are, BUT I think that can mean that if we are burning other fuels (like reclaimed jet fuel) in our engines, that some due care in adding biodiesel or other additives will protect our little tractors.

I think that model (along with the e-spec CRD JK) may have the new 2.8 from VmMotori with the AL block and other re-working. I think it's also rated at about 25 ft/lbs more of torque. Anyone know for sure?

I think it's the generation after ours.

No Aluminum block (still Iron), but it is the new engine (next generation from that in the KJ). The torque ratings between the J8 and the JK are different but they are more than the KJ. The new engine is also used in the KA, KK, and RT (minivan).
