Yes mine does, today it was 93 and I timed it after shut down and it ran for 90 seconds.

Do you guys run the motor a while before shut down to cool the turbocharger down?
Sounds like your rig is HOT.
My 'letric fan has not run yet.

Mine runs most of the time when I shut it down during the summer. It only runs for a few seconds after the motor stopped and then shuts off. I have an EGT gauge and I let the turbo cool first before shutting it down, but that actually increases the temp under the hood as while you are sitting less air is moving under the hood. Shutting off the ac while you wait for the EGT to cool helps keep the fan usage to minimum.

I believe the fan is thermostatically controlled by the AC condenser temperature. EDIT KINDA TRUE see next post

I have had a case, here in the hot destert environment, where the engine was not heated up fully, but the AC was on, cooling a very hot interior, on recirculation mode, and sure enough, the E fan came on.

From the service manual.
E fan turns on when the PCM feel s like it. Many inputs including battery temperature !?!!?

The electric radiator cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) through the radiator cooling fan relays. The PCM regulates fan operation
based on input from the engine coolant temperature sensor, battery temperature
sensor, air conditioning select switch and vehicle speed.
The fan is not energized during engine cranking regardless of the electrical input
from the temperature sensors and air conditioning switch. However, if engine
operation conditions warrant fan engagement, the fan will run once engine starts.
On vehicles NOT equipped with AC: The relay is energized when the coolant
temperature is above 80° C (176° F), or battery temperature sensor above -12° C
(10° F). It will then de-energize when coolant temperature drops below 82° C
(180° F), or battery temperature sensor below -9° C (16° F).
Vehicles Equipped with AC: In addition to using coolant temperature and
battery temperature sensor to control cooling fan operation, the cooling fan will
also be engaged when the air conditioning system is activated. The relay is also
energized when air conditioning is selected and coolant temperature is above 95°
C (203° F), or, air conditioning is selected and battery temperature sensor is
above 41° C (106° F). It will then de-energize when air conditioning is selected
and coolant temperature is below 92° C (198° F), or air conditioning is selected
and battery temperature is below 38° C (100° F).

.....after shut down is a good way to let the cylinder head cool down enough so it does not warp or crack. VW and others did this for years before the TDI hit the road. Glad to hear that the CRD has this feature. I notice my fan running several seconds after shut down. Since I live 1 1/2 miles from I-88 where I could ever give the CRD a work out and have to do the 35MPH crawl before I get home, I would be less apt to hear my fan run after shut down.

Neither of my CRDs have ever had the electric fan run after shutdown. Even after using the AC on a 95ºF day.

Mine has never run after shut down. I usually let it cool down before I shut if off but not always. It is consistently above 100 degrees for weeks on end and whether I cool it down or not the electric has never run after shutdown. My wife's Volvo does all the time so I didn't think the Jeep was wired that way. No I don't know whether to worry or not.

Mine doesn't run after shutdown. In fact, I am only aware of it running once while climbing a steep off road trail with a big load while the AC was on. The temp guage was creeping up and I was just about to shut the AC off when the guage dropped quickly.

Returning from Port St. Lucie last June I noticed the electric fan was running at the 2 rest areas we stopped at in FL. I always leave the engine running do to the fact our stops are usually 5 mins or less and we have a rottie that doesn't do heat too well. Temp guage was at the normal 1 tick before halfway. It wasn't running when we stopped that afternoon in Orangeburg, SC.

On hot days it will, (mine has done it on several occasions, especially hot days) I guess it also depends if you just happened to shut off your engine when the fan motor happened to cycle on and you didnt give it enough time to perform its job, so it stays on (even with the engine off) until the appropriate lower temp is achieved.
