Any reasons why I should not use the WIX tranny filters / gasket kit?

WIX Filters, 545RFE, external, internal and gasket $32.40 pN 58843 (rockauto)

GAsket instead of RTV for tranny pan seal ? Any suggestions?

I heard RTV is the way to go, I guess the gasket slips during installation.
Wix has a great reputation.
How about these guys: http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/merch ... 5RFEfilter

I used the filters from napa they cost around $27 with the new gasket. I thought the gasket was great because all the pan bolts kept the gasket in place while being held up to the bottom of the transmission then I just had to hand turn them to get them started, working from the center out to the edges. It was very easy.

Thanks guys,

Looks like there are some better deals out there for filters than I got.

The dealer uses RTV....

I just like the tidyness of the gasket I guess.

NAPA sells Wix filters with their name on them. O'Reily Auto Parts sells Wix too.

NAPA Gold is Wix. Check with fleetfilter.com. You can get great prices and 15% off if you order $125 at a time. They also have fuel filters for the CRD.

oreilly stocks the wix fuel filters too.

make sure the filter kit comes with the normal flat filter and the spin on filter. When I did ours a few months ago i bought the filter kit and got into it and found the spin on filter inside too. nobody had it so I just did the flat filter and put it back together with rtv. I also installed a drain plug in the pan for next time.
