the H3 is a total PIG :!: :!: :!:

I have a job in Avon, CO and picked up a H3 at Denver International Airport. Even on the level this PIG has no guts. Going up the Hill into the tunnel near Loveland Pass the tach was at 5,000 RPM. On one stretch a MB GL 320CID passed me up like I was driving a farm tractor. All I could pass up were over loaded Subarus. What a disappointment, GM should be able to do better.

Yep, the 5 banger was a pig. The newer ones have a different engine tho.

They have the option of the 5.3 V-8 now.

Now it's just a different kind of pig. 13 mpg city. I think my older brother's 1971 440 Cuda got better mileage than that.

The biggest trick to driving I-70 West of Denver it to keep the pedal on the floor before & after Floyd Hill. Once you loose momentum especially in a gasser it takes a loooooooooooong time to get your RPM's and speed back up. I know even I've had folks haul @ss past me in a p.o.s. up to Eisenhower Tunnel because they run it WOT like a psychopath!

BTW I saw a MB GL 320CID while I was in Maui last week and I was drooling over that beast like a rabid puppy.

Is funny that you post this ...

On my commute to DC today, this guy on his yellow hummer tried to ... keep up. I took several cars length between both of us, and he was trying !

I wonder how he felt...

I think of how much the H3 is a P.I.G. and to think, I almost bought a Pegout 504 diesel

P.S. I did pass up a Sprinter CRD going up Loveland Pass, but he was towing an enclosed loaded tandem axle utility trailer

Post subject:  Drove the PIG back to Denver

When I climbed up to the Eisenhower near Loveland Pass, I noticed that I could climb at 60MPH and 3200 RPM. As the grade steepened the trans would down shift and the engine would go up to 5500RPM. Since the engine has it peak torque around 4400 RPM, why don't they have a gear in between to make good use of the 5 banger :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

GM has BEAN COUNTERS too :!: :!: :!:

If any one gets hit in the head with a big rock and picks up a H3 with a 5cyl, working over the trans ratios would make this PIG closer to a RAZOR BACK than a farm pig.

AVIS gets the pig back tomorrow morning.
